I thought Nicola Sturgeon did a better job of it than Boris.

Boris produced waffle and I now remember virtually nothing of his address.
NS was clear, knowledgeable and sympathetic.
Meaningful and moving.
No comparison.

I hate his face but that was better than I expected... Just much much too late

Well, I know he wasn’t listening. I meant that I found it so distracting that I wasn’t listening.

I bet we're not allowed to meet up with other households inside or outside pretty soon. NS has already introduced it in Scotland and Boris should have done it now. Rishi Sunak has got to him.

Well I thought the PMs message was pretty clear. This thread, as usual is just another excuse for more Boris bashing and no I have don’t have any political allegiance. I just try to keep an ‘open mind’.

Our friend is dying pretty fast of cancer. It’s cruel to deny him the company of his children, GC and friends and cruel that his wife is having to cope with his illness all on her own.

In the four or five months since diagnosis they’ve had a MacMillan nurse come to the house twice and that is all the hands-on medical care he’s had. The rest consists of ‘come and pick up a prescription’ which is v difficult because he can’t be left and no one will come and sit with him.

I think you'll find there are exemptions where family welfare is concerned ,checkm it out but your friend should have been able to see his family for weeks now and ongoing if its crucial to his welfare .

Being sole carer takes a terrible toll when all the normal support avenues are closed to you. She has been no further than the village shop and pharmacy since April.

It wasn't Boris' broadcast, it was the Prime Minister's message to the country and was introduced as such. I do object to everyone analysing the personality rather than the content of the message. Maybe if some eloquent orator had delivered the information we would consider things differently?

if its the no visiting other houses ,that doesn't apply to people who are providing help for either physical or mental welfare reasons.We doubled checked as OH's mum has no support other than us,his sister still works so she cant visit her mum who was sheilding .I msgd my (SNP) MP who said under welfare circumstances visits were still allowed .Get your friends daughter to double check but iif they are being careful I dont think theres an issue

I’m pretty sure we won’t be able to see our friend again. Forty years we’ve known them.

Do they live in Scotland? I thought in England we can still go to visit houses as long as we stick to the rule of 6? Unless your area has local lockdowns?

D’you know Fanny I think I said this earlier in the pandemic.
Though not a ‘fan’ this is exactly the sort of situation she would have tackled with precision and logic. Women leaders in general seem to have more of of a grip.

As far as being being ‘preached’ at by NS well words fail me. She at least says what she thinks and there are too many, right across the UK, who need to be ‘preached’ at. It the cap fits...
