I think the operative word in this article is 'could.' But then, you read it in the Daily Mail, so it must be true.

I agree. Could is a word that is much misunderstood.

A lot of things will and many things ‘could’ happen as a result of the pandemic. Scaremongering about possibilities is the last thing we need.
I had a post menapausal bleed three weeks ago. I saw my practice nurse the same day. I was seen at our local hospital eight days later. Scans exams etc, great team of nurses and the Units consultant doctor. I didn’t need a biopsy but they assured me if I had, the results would be known the same day. I realise this is one small example and that the pandemic is impacting but let’s still celebrate systems working well.

So we'll just ignore this then?
As I said on a forum here the other day I have two friends who are now on antidepressants and one who has started having suicidal thoughts. These were previously "happy" women. I know people who are worried about paying their mortgages and are falling into debt. Yet, I still don't know anyone who has tested positive for Covid!

Yes, "could" is a big word here. I agree with that.

Because you don’t know them doesn’t mean they aren’t there.Cases are going up daily.

I know people who have tested positive for Covid months ago and are still suffering fatigue. Others have trouble with their breathing. Covid is a very nasty illness for some people and can have lasting effects.
There will be collateral damage from the pandemic but I don't think we can predict how much.

In the last 100 years it's influenza that has killed more people and disproportionately it kills the young as well as the elderly and those who are weakened by illness.
The Spanish 'flu killed 50-100 million young and old healthy or not.

Air travel has added to the pandemic as was forecast a year ago by the WHO who called the next pandemic " Disease X ". With the high turnover of passengers from countries which bore deadly diseases it was easy to create a world pandemic within 36 hours.
WHO said last year that this was on the horizon.

It's damn scary when you look at a map of the world with diseases prevalent to that country with people flying in to this country. How can anyone keep a check on the millions that frequent airports every year ?
We're going to have to live with it aren't we ?

*EllanVannin" Yes, I believe we are going to have to live with it and the government isn't brave enough to tell us that. I fear greatly for what is happening to civil liberties and mental health. Personally I struggle to believe a lot of what the government are telling me. I do not deny there is a virus - moreover I question the heavy handed response.

Is it " just " a bad case of 'flu with 80% fear ?

Such as a pilot once told me that his job was 95% luck and 5% fear. Good to hear eh ? Those were the days when you were allowed/invited into the cockpit and asked questions. To see the workings of a 747 was beyond anyone's dreams. Superb.

There is certainly a lot of fear. People driving around in cars with masks on!

I don't want to live in a country where the PM tells us that he will use extra "fire power" if necessary, where we're encouraged to snitch on our neighbours. I could go on but suffice to say my fear is not of The Virus.

My last post meaning that there is an element of fear surrounding most things where auto-suggestion comes into play, whether it's flying what was, the biggest lady of the skies or indeed a virus.

Fear, like freedom, comes in various forms doesn't it? Free from and freedom too.....
BTW, I would have loved to have gone into the cockpit of a 747! My kids got to do it with their dad and can still clearly remember it.
