So angry at them letting the Brazil virus in

I’m seething at hearing about this person wandering the country with the Brazilian virus. He ‘didn’t fill in a contact form’ apparently. What the ****** is going on! If someone doesn’t want to fill in a form isolate them for 2 weeks. If you go to the US and don’t fill in a green form you don’t get in!!!! What are our border services playing at.

Mollygo Mon 01-Mar-21 10:36:48

I’m fuming too! He needs a hefty fine, at least three times what it would have cost to be isolated!

Oldwoman70 Mon 01-Mar-21 10:37:59

As I understand it this was a person who went for a test in UK and didn't complete the contact details correctly - not someone who refused to complete a form on arrival to UK

Ilovecheese Mon 01-Mar-21 10:39:10

I thought he had filled in a form, just not correctly. Variants are going to happen spontaneously anyway, we could just as easily export the so called Kent variant, I am sure the border forces are doing the best they can. If the Government chooses not to completely close the borders then this sort of thing will happen.

I thought that they didn’t fill in contact details when they had the test. Was the test done at the airport? I’m a bit confused about what exactly has happened, but I agree that wherever they failed to fill in details, it’s appalling that the form without details wasn’t queried. What’s going on?

maddyone Mon 01-Mar-21 10:41:24

It strikes me that this person is selfish beyond description as they obviously didn’t want to be found, regardless of the result.

Peasblossom Mon 01-Mar-21 10:42:01

It wasn’t an airport test where forms are checked. It was either a home test or one of the random sweep tests.

Peasblossom Mon 01-Mar-21 10:43:05

Probably a random sweep of someone with no symptoms who just filled in the form carelessly.

The vaccines minister this morning said it was part of the surge testing. Their are 3 confirmed Brazilian variant cases in Scotland, 2 in Gloucestershire (same household) along with the one they are trying to track.

The Kent strain has been found in Australia despite quarantine and stricter border controls.

The virus is here to stay, it will continue to mutate which is why the vaccination programme is vital.

Yes I’m sure some people don’t put in the correct details on purpose. I know of people who did exactly that last year when pubs reopened. angry

Smileless2012 Mon 01-Mar-21 10:58:51

I thought that too maddyoneangry.

Hmm, before quarantine but should have self-isolated if they travelled from abroad. I wonder if they did.

Or if they caught it here they could just be wandering around. Shows it’s not over doesn’t it and that any of us could be a source of infection.

Such a lot of people are relaxing now and taking the chance.

PamelaJ1 Mon 01-Mar-21 11:28:33

I don’t understand this.
I got the impression that they know which flight the passenger was on.
If so then surely they know who was on the flight and by the Process of elimination surely they can work out the name and passport details of the person they are looking for.

Jaxjacky Mon 01-Mar-21 11:39:25

Could’ve been a she...as GrannyGravy13 said, Australia, with all their controls have had a case sneak in. These cases won’t be the last.

As I've been saying in a few posts that people have still been flying hither and thither throughout this past year, regardless !
I'm not surprised by this nor anything else that comes our way, afterall, we can't be locked-down forever which is what it amounts to as people will begin their holidays abroad soon anyway. What's going to happen at the beginning of this Autumn again ?

Peasblossom Mon 01-Mar-21 11:41:01

It wasn’t a flight passenger Pamela. It was a home test.

Peasblossom Mon 01-Mar-21 11:43:32

That doesn’t mean they hadn’t flown from somewhere before they took the home test, if you see what I mean.

The test and the filled in form were done at home not Stan airport.

EllanVannin Mon 01-Mar-21 11:45:08

We can't live our lives forever in and out of lockdown, it's not normal. I think it'll be a case of if everyone's been vaccinated you take your chances and hope for the best.

I totally agree EV...

BlueSky Mon 01-Mar-21 11:56:43

Agree Ellan it’s the only way forward.

Peasblossom Mon 01-Mar-21 11:58:57

I agree. We just need people not to jump the gun for a few more weeks.

paddyanne Mon 01-Mar-21 12:13:26

The Scottish cases flew from Brazil to Paris and then London ....then apparently made their way north without any attepmt to isolate ! WE really need control of our borders ,we had no deaths last year for over 8 weeks until the tourists started swarming over the border and got abuse for saying to them please dont come during the pandemic .Boris of course said ther IS NO BORDER .Now we're facing the same again ,you'd almost think its part of the chief clowns plan to keep us infected !!

EllanVannin Mon 01-Mar-21 12:17:44

Every year we never know what " germs " travellers bring into the country, it's been going on for years with foreign travel to all kinds of far-flung places.
We must have built up some resistance over the years ?.
How many people do you hear coughing and sneezing when flying ? People will still fly whether or not, we can't stop them.

Watch a few youtube flights and you'll be guaranteed to hear coughing. Those droplets are circulating within the confines of an aircraft cabin. So if there's anywhere you should wear a mask, it's on board a flight, even in normal times.

44 days between the government being told of the danger of the Brazilian mutation and the government taking any action at all. Plenty of time for this opportunist to spread around the U.K.

BlueBelle Mon 01-Mar-21 12:38:21

It’s going to happen I can see no point in seething about it

New Zealand (well Auckland) has now gone into lockdown, 12 days before my granddaughters wedding ? this time it was a college student going to the gym but the last time a few weeks ago were U.K. visitors who probably passed it to each other IN the quarantine hotel testing negative when leaving the hotel but positive two days later already passed it on !!!
It will happen throughout the world absolutely no point in getting overly annoyed ? It will happen
(who said it was a he?)
