She was a terrible mother, as she suffered from PTSD and turned to drink but her son [who felt he never knew his mother] found thousands of negatives in the loft when he was searching for a photo of him when he was a baby [that wasn't mentioned at the exhibition]. There's also a one hour film talking about her work but we ran out of time; going back next week to watch it.

I remember an exhibition of her work at the Edinburgh Museum of Modern Art some years ago at the Festival. An amazing woman!

I've just got back from an exhibition of her war photographs. I'd never heard of her before, but she was an beautiful fashion model who then became a photographer and then a war photographer with the Allied troops after D Day. I can't do a link, but her photos are stunning and incredibly moving[but, be warned, they are very graphic].
