2016 has not been a good year for famous people , we've lost over 35 in the first quarter . David Bowie, Victoria Wood, Ronnie. Corbett, Prince, Alan Rickman to name a few.

Caroline Aherne was the most funny, talented lady. The Royle Family was a groundbreaking comedy and my absolute favourite. I often thought she would be my choice if I could pick one celebrity to go on a night out with. How sad to lose such a one-off so young.(sad)

Caroline Aherne and Victoria Wood were both amazingingly talented with different styles of comedy writing, but still brilliant in their own way. The sort of comedy that you can watch over and over again, and it's still fantastic, still funny and stands the test of time. I'm just wondering who is going to follow them? Women don't do as well in comedy as men do, but when they do they get it so right. Their comedy was not surreal or silly , it was always believable, slices of life that we all know. Are there any female writers out there who can fill their shoes?

What wonderful talent and being famous made her uncomfortable - seems so common to them all - how sad not to enjoy fame! Linda Smith, Victoria Wood and now Caroline Aherne RIP

A very talented and funny lady. In fact one if the very few truly funny women in my opinion.

I knew she had lung cancer but didn't know that she was born with cancer of the eye, then later got bladder and lung cancer and finally throat cancer. What a terrible burden and no wonder she was often troubled and depressed. Enough to knock anyone over.
RIP Caroline.
