The day after her daughter died, now mother Debbie Reynolds has died, aged 84 years old after a stroke. Probably the news that her daughter had died? So sad for the family and their friends. God bless. X

Especially awful for the daughter who has lost her mum and her grandma.

How very sad.....who says you can't die from a broken heart?

I read that mother and daughter were estranged for 10 years and didn't speak in that time but became good friends again as Carrie Fisher aged ...maybe that can give hope to the many grannies estranged from family members that we hear of on here
I expect the shock was too much for her ..very sad

When I was at school whilst others had pictures of male pop stars pinned to inside lid of their desks. My picture was of a happy Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher on their wedding day. I loved her dancing style.
R.I.P.

Oh such sad news ?

How cruel must it be to lose your child when you are old..it seems so sad. Fate might have at least saved Debbie Reynolds from dying with so much grief to cope with; bereaved family in such an unhappy state now too.

Their lives will be much celebrated - very poignant to have happened this way , especially at this time of year, - as with George Michael x

Morgana Thu 29-Dec-16 12:24:29

George Michael looked so sad and tortured in those last photos. Hopefully he is now at peace.

nancyma Thu 29-Dec-16 14:04:57

Morgan a, maybe it was bad photos, perhaps he was very happy and contented and a bit overweight like most of us. Lovely man.

My favourite film of hers was The Tender Trap and yet it is never mentioned. She certainly gave me a great deal of pleasure over the years. I also loved her lilty voice.

It's been a terrible year for losing celebrities and although she was a good age, I can't help but feel her death is the most tragic. It really does seem that the pain of losing her daughter was too much for her.

TriciaF Thu 29-Dec-16 17:25:10

Hoping she has been able to join her daughter, wherever we go after this life. RIP to both.
I used to enjoy her singing and dancing, must have seen all her films.

I can't believe she was only 19 when she made Singin' in the Rain. I thought she was wonderful sad

My memory of Debbie Reynolds is of her recording of "Tammy". It was in the charts for weeks in the fifties and my cousin and I (not quite teenagers) used to perform it in front of a mirror using hairbrushes as microphones - happy days!! She was a very talented all round performer.

Phoebes Thu 29-Dec-16 22:02:56

I know Debbie Reynolds had probably had a bit of help, but she looked better now than when she was in Singing in the Rain! So very sad, but perhaps better for her than living without her daughter whom she obviously loved very much. I just feel so sorry for Carrie Fisher's daughter, who is still quite young and has lost her Mum and Grandma at the same time and at Christmas, too.
