Here we go. grin

lucid Mon 01-Aug-11 10:46:22

I've lost 2lb this week grin. Keeping the food diary for a couple of days made me realise that the 'occasional' treat was not occasional! So cut them down and the weight dropped off.

glassortwo Mon 01-Aug-11 10:54:35

Well done lucid 2lb great result, just shows when we write things down that we would normally forget had passed our lips. grin

goldengirl Mon 01-Aug-11 11:49:03

Well, much to my surprise I'm the same as I was 2 weeks ago [I didn't weigh in last week, but I certainly felt heavy!]. I would like to lose something, however small, this week but it seems that its been exercise rather than diet that has made the difference so I'm off to the town on foot! smile

yogagran Mon 01-Aug-11 14:28:59

10st 6lbs this week which is s little lighter than a couple of weeks ago. Hoping that I'm now back on track and will continue downwards instead of up. Feeling positive about it - I CAN do this. Smaller portions, slower eating and really appreciating the food. You're right lucid, writing down what we eat does help as we get into such bad habits, I tended (note the use of the past tense!) to nibble all the wrong things and it mounts up very quickly

janreb Mon 01-Aug-11 18:24:00

Just another 1/2lb this week - it's very slow going but I shall keep going.

yogagran Mon 01-Aug-11 18:51:53

I think slow is best, it's supposed to be more permanent that way, or am I kidding myself? hmm

glassortwo Mon 01-Aug-11 21:12:16

Wow I cant believe my first week back at slimming world and dont feel as if I have changed very much but I have lost 6lb grin grin grin

Think the two things that are slightly different are that I have only had bread once and couple of glasses of red wine this week.

glassortwo Mon 01-Aug-11 21:13:34

Well done janreb. and yoga.

yogagran Mon 01-Aug-11 21:18:55

6lb - that's amazing, well done glass. You've really set us a challenge! I hardly eat any bread but I must confess to a glass (just one) of red wine every night. Perhaps I should give it up but that would be tough as I look on it as my treat

glassortwo Mon 01-Aug-11 21:32:03

yoga I dont know what it is but red wine makes me put on weight or maintain depends how much I drink grin I have had one/two vodka and slimline tonics most nights instead, so I have still had a drink, I also like dry martini and diet lemonade which makes a nice long drink.

I so love red wine, but it does not love me sad!

yogagran Mon 01-Aug-11 22:41:37

That's interesting, you've made me rethink my evening routine, I think I'll try something different and see what happens. Back to Tesco to stock up!

Notsogrand Tue 02-Aug-11 08:01:31

Weekend away so a day late weighing in. I've lost another 1 lb so that's a total now of a stone lost, thanks to Gransnet. I'm pleased, but it's taken 9 weeks to lose a stone which, as I have so much to lose, seems very slow progress. Will keep going though.
Glass your 6 lbs loss is brilliant, you are an inspiration to us all!
I may check out the Slimming World website. smile

Annobel Tue 02-Aug-11 08:32:46

I have lost the pound I gained last week, so now for France! A soirée du vin is on in a local village and red wine always makes me gain weight - I think it makes me retain fluid, at least that's the best explanation/excuse I can think of.
Well done, Glass, you are an inspiration.

GrannyK Tue 02-Aug-11 11:53:21

Am disappointed that the 1/2 lb I lost last week has gone on again this week. No real reason- been fairly careful with food and done plenty of gardening and the Pilates class. It is only 19 days to my friend's wedding so will have to put myself on red alert for the next fortnight. On the other hand I have lost 5 lbs since starting and am floating in the general area of 9st 4lbs which means the dress fits, so I can't really complain . Just need to stay focused through to the finish !!

glassortwo Tue 02-Aug-11 12:15:56

Congratulation notso 1 stone well done, 9 weeks is not too bad that averages 1.5lb a week, it is better for you to loose 1.5lbs to 2lbs a week, so you are right on target. A stone is a great achievement fantastic.

glassortwo Tue 02-Aug-11 12:19:25

well done annobel 1lb, think you may be right about the red wine, oh but what temptation for you, enjoy your holidays.

GrannyK 5lbs is a good result overall, you will just need to keep focused towards the wedding not long now. smile

bunic Tue 02-Aug-11 18:25:47

well done all you weight losers keep going down.

Second attempt at trying to post this - so irritating when that happens.

I am late weighing in this week because I have had a friend staying and I really feel that you can't diet when that happens (and she treated us to a lovely meal out whilst she was here). So pleased, then, to discover that I have lost another lb since last Monday, especially as the exercising almost went out of the window, too. Anyway, that's nine lbs lost since I started.

glass when I followed the no carb diet four/five years ago (and lost 5 stone which I promptly put back on when I had some problems), it was recommended that if you wanted a drink you tried a vodka, so there must be something about it as opposed to red wine. Personally I would rather go without than drink vodka, but there you are .....

Whilst my friend was here I did half follow the no carb way, but indulged with puddings (I have a fantastic recipe for chocolate brownie cake which is to die for - especially served warm with berries and a little cream). Ah, well, no more of that until I have visitors again!

glassortwo Wed 03-Aug-11 14:10:44

GillieB well done 9lbs that is fantastic, it is difficult when you have visitors but you seem to have managed very well.

Think you had best keep your recipe to yourself for the time being. grin

Dont mind vodka cant manage gin though, they say that Red Label Smirnoff vodka is even better for your weight loss. confused

yogagran Wed 03-Aug-11 18:42:45

GillieB - how about putting your chocolate brownie recipe on the recipe page for us to enjoy when we're a little slimmer?? Please....

Good morning how are you all.

I have just made some quiches for the packed lunches tomorrow and thought someone might like the recipe, good for using up bits of veg thats left.

I have made one with lean smoked bacon, lightly fried in spray light, a little smoked sausage (used Mattesons Low fat), mushrooms, spring onions, tomatoe, then finished off with sliced toms.

Pastry Less quiche

peppers, diced
onions, chopped
courgettes, diced
baby sweetcorn, sliced
asparagus, sliced lengthways
mushrooms, chopped
tomatoes, sliced
3 eggs
150g fat free natural cottage cheese

method1. Prepare whatever veggies you fancy… You can dry-fry them until soft or leave them raw for extra crunch.

2. Mix together the 3 eggs, 150g fat-free natural cottage cheese and some chopped parsley.

3. Lay the chopped vegetables out in an oven-proof flan dish then pour the cottage cheese mix over.

4. Pop in the oven at 190ºC/375ºF/Gas 5 for around 30 minutes, or until the quiche is set and golden brown.

yogagran Thu 04-Aug-11 17:14:56

That sounds tasty and very useful to use up those odd bits and pieces lurking in the drawer at the bottom of the fridge. Thanks *glass"

glassortwo Fri 05-Aug-11 08:08:32

Goodmorning, just thought I had better have a quick word before we all fall off the rails tonight at the party. By the menu so far there will be lots of tasty nibbles, if you cant be good be careful, thats all I am going to say!!!!! grin

GillieB Fri 05-Aug-11 20:06:29

yogagran - I will post the recipe over the weekend (but don't try it yet!).
