Since I stopped smoking last year I've put on a few pounds. Earlier this year I tried the 5:2 diet, as did my daughter who has a serious weight problem. We both lost a couple of pounds over a couple of months but neither of us could cope with fasting so gave up. Since then I've piled weight on - faster than ever. I need to lose at least half a stone before I go away in July because I feel dreadful in my summer clothes. Best diet to kick start it? I walk quite a lot for exercise but can't do much more - dodgy joints!
