The problem in Syria

The children shivering in the rain in Europe on TV last night were unwatchable - surely there must be something we can do?

I have attached the video and my brain hurts. I would need several viewins to be able to make any sense of it all - or maybe it is that there is no sense to be made. Those poor families caught up in all this who flee, only to face a brick wall from some in Europe and no proper plan to aid them. It makes you want to weep.

Thanks for posting that grannya - it makes things as clear as they can be - which is sadly not very. How the poor citizens caught up in this can make head nor tail of it I do not know. I have always been intrigued by these sort of conflicts where no-one is in uniform - how do they know who is who? - who to give a cup of tea and who to murder? It's all beyond me.

Luckygirl the video helped me to untangle the range of conflicting groups who are perpetrating violence in Syria - and like you say, it highlights the difficulty of knowing who the enemy is if you're an ordinary citizen. Tragic!

No mention of UK's involvement. We obviously are just in US pockets.

Thanks for that GA. It is so easy to get confused and forget things along the way. What a tragic mess Syria is. It is unnerving to see the richer world powers standing up against each other in this small country and we must not forget the hostility between Shia and Sunni.

Wasn't Syria half of Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilisation? You're right, Lully, a tragedy.
