If you think he has a lot to take with him wait till you see what he has to bring home at the end of the year!
When he knows the Uni and the sort of housing he will be in think about how many weeks you take - DS opted for the fewer weeks option the first year but it was a dreadful job emptying out his room etc and getting all his stuff away - after that he always opted to have the full year to enable him to leave everything in his old room or move to his new before leaving for the holiday. It also gives options if he needs to stay later than term ends or go back earlier.
Hope he gets his grades.

My DS was offered a place at Sunderland University, he was also offered a place at Lincoln. We lived in Cumbria at the time, which place did he choose, Lincoln of course . When he went for the first time, we loaded up the car with all his stuff, took him to his house share, and then went to Skegness for the weekend. Lovely!

Around here (city) everyone just heads to the local Tesco to pick up household stuff en-route to the University.

Is he going into the Halls? My daughter did that in her first year. Although it was a big initial lay out it was worth it because she was guaranteed to have breakfast and an evening meal, electricity, wifi, heating and hot water even if/when she ran out of money.

I've just booked an extra night at the hotel, lovely. Hot bubble baths, room service, nice big bed, ground floor, restaurant with bar, I can't wait. I am normally in B&B or caravans, never a hotel so it will be wonderful to treat myself. I can re charge and then come home after a break. (Change the locks, maybe even move house! )

Now, my DS. Yes, he is going into Halls. He has chosen a room with an en suite and kitchen for himself. It's like being on permanent holiday! Hardly the tiny room my ED had when she went 10 years ago. I think I have treated him too well. He has chose the 40 weeks option but can stay for summer if he chooses to at the time so we will cross that bridge when we come to it. He is well equipped to wash his own clothes in the on site launderette so I don't think he will be lugging dirty washing home to be honest. It is quite far, in Wales to go, three hours in a car, six hours on a train. I'm sure he will manage, he's been trained well, although when someone else will do it for him, he will let them, of course.

I am looking forward to starting a new life although I will be on here moaning that I am missing him, regardless of the problems we have had, I will miss him like mad. Being a mum I suppose.

Cambridge in Wales.

We had some lovely holidays visiting our three at the various places they were at. Son was in Wales Rublady at Bangor. We used to stay on Anglesey.

My daughter went to Hull University but studied in Scarborough. The campus isn't always where the name of the university suggests.

Warwick uni is on the outskirts of Coventry. Coventry uni is in the city centre (it used to be the Lanchester Poly until 1987).

I think that was (roughly) what I meant.

However, the University of Cambridge to Wales (or vice versa) is a heck of a bike ride!!!
