The original Supercook had the absolute best Christmas cake ever. I've lost my book and would be eternally grateful if any kind person could send me the recipe.

Are you in Australia?
Are you having Christmas in July?

you may find one here

Don't fret about the Christmas cake... plenty of time yet, BUT have you put the sprouts on? They really need to be on a steady boil by March.

....and is it really too early to buy the cards and crackers?

Lynnieg Fri 03-Mar-17 21:05:54

I've got the Supercook part works, I'll have a look and see if I can scan it. Is it just called Christmas Cake or anything fancy?

Grannybags Fri 03-Mar-17 21:27:01

That's it! I've finished with GN! The "C" word has been mentioned and it's only March!! grin

Perhaps Squeak1111 wants it for a birthday cake or wedding cake.

Hi, I used to work on Supercook and have a complete set right beside me in my office at this very moment. There are two Christmas cake recipes: one is a traditional recipe for a dark, rich fruit cake that needs to be baked two to three month before Christmas, the other is a for a paler, lighter fruit cake. I suspect it is the former that you want, but let me know and I'll send you the recipe.

Thanks so much absent - it's the rich, dark recipe that I'm after. I really appreciate your reply and if you can send it to me that would be great
Thanks also to Lynnieg.
This is my first post on Gransnet and it's brilliant!

Jalima Sat 04-Mar-17 18:55:47

grannypiper shock

I bought lots of charity cards last C*** then found boxes that I had bought the year before. So they will do for this year.
We still have a C**** pudding in the cupboard.

Squeak1111 I'll send the recipe in a private message now. The time delay in my response is because I live in New Zealand and you, I assume are in the UK.

Stansgran Sat 04-Mar-17 19:39:30

There are only 295 days to countdown so on your marks....

absent Sat 04-Mar-17 20:11:52

Squeak1111 Done. smile

Stansgran and all the rest of you mockers, the cake does need to mature for 2–months and then it has to be coated with marzipan and iced, so it does need to be made in the autumn; therefore more like 190 days. smile

tiggypiro Sat 04-Mar-17 22:13:09

And it seems to be March already so where the hell did January and February go to??
It will soon be time to get the C cake made at this rate.

Hi, I am trying to find the supercook recipe for Christmas Pudding. We have recently lost it in a house fire and I’ve been searching for it online when I came across this chat.
Any help with this would be amazing.

Thanks
Carla

If you Google “supercook Christmas cake”, various recipes come up - perhaps one of those is the one you’re looking for? I hope you find it.

OP was March 2017.

She’ll have made half a dozen cakes since then hopefully.
