I’m less gadgets and more knives and pans. However I do have a slow cooker,sandwich maker, food processor, juicer, mixer, raclette, foreman grill, Nespresso machine and blender??.
How dreadful to have so much,I never realised.
My dream gadget is a thermomix but at £1100 it is an unlikely purchase.

What type of juicer does u have? I am going to buy a juicer but am unable to understand that which one will be better for me? I have two options. The first one is the best beginner juicer and the second one is best celery juicer. Which one is best in it please tell me.

@annsixty If you ever want to sell your Saucier - please let me know! I love mine but have lost the stirrer thing!

Just hoping that DD doesn't come home for a visit and start looking for the juicer ...

Bread maker was easy to find plus...still in its wrapping so still had its recipe book inside.
Made a fruit bread which was nice with some apricot jam..
Going to have a go at herb bread this afternoon, fresh yeast is easy to buy here and we'll have herb bread and marmite at 4-30pm. ? ?
Have decided to follow my car boot partner in crime...Castillemon 's example and take 25% of my stuff to the local dechettarie where it will be recycled.
Going to take what I haven't used for the last year.

I know, but i can just imagine this thread prompting many of you to fish them out of the cupboards and switch them on to see if they still work. If our lights go dim later, I'll know why

Merlotgran, try the GF grill for outdoor cooking. We use to ours to cook fish, steak etc much better and simpler than a BBQ.

Miepl, I think I'll do that because it sounds so much more versatile than what I'd originally had in mind. Also, it's her birthday today so I could send her a photograph of what I buy in lieu of sending it to her. Thank you ??

Going to root out the bread machine (never used) this afternoon. I usually just make soda bread by hand and people ask why am I making bread when I live in France where daily bread purchasing is like a religion but truth be told, other than baguettes which are lovely I find a lot of French bread has a really sweet, sugary crust, sometimes saccharin-like and I don't like the after taste unless of course it's mellowed with the odd glass of something....?
So!...to pursue the original thought behind this thread...I'm 'reviewing' my appliances situation. Lol

Carillion - why not get your dgd an electric pressure cooker such as a PKP? If you look on a site such as that for the Instant Pot, you'll see how many different things you can do with it! Or dare I suggest a Ninja?

In fact, forget the toaster, I think DD made me throw it out because it was scratched (health hazard apparently).

They have a recycling section at the tip so I am going to find out what is lurking in my cupboards and have a sort out.

I married my wonderful husband in September 2016, we moved in together the year before. I have re-named him Inspector Gadget.

In our rather small kitchen we now have:

Electric egg cooker (hate it)

Too big Range cooker (never used small oven)
electric hot plate (indoor bbq)
GF grill
mini chopper
Nutri bullet
Strange gadget which slices, cuts veg (used once)
electric steamer (use lots in winter)

But I agree with the chef...…….All I really need is a good set of sharp knives

As well as all the kitchen gadgets we have so many other electrical items (DH is an electrician). Half of which I have no idea how to use . Boys and their toys lol

The problem with a George Foreman grill is the amount of steam/smoke it creates. It does a lovely job of grilling steak but I can't use it under the extractor fan above the hob unless we're eating steak with oven chips and salad. The only other answer is to part cook veg then finish them in the microwave.

I agree about toasted sandwiches though.

Blimey - whatever else you do, I hope you don't all decide to use all those things at the same time, or our energy grid will collapse!

Even though I have always done a lot of cooking and baking, I have very few of the things mentioned, and can only think of one that I never use, which is an electric carving knife. I asked for one for Christmas a few years ago, after reading here on Gransnet how good they were. Mine wasn't!

I do have a GF health grill, but that was left here by one of my sons and he never reclaimed it. Until recently, it was only used very occasionally, but I've just discovered that it makes a nice toasted sandwich, and can even do passable cheese on toast - this was a great discovery, as I haven't been able to make any for the last 18 months, since my top oven/grill packed up!

This time next year Callistemon we could be millionaires.

I suppose using an Air Fryer could be similar to playing Air Guitar? You could mime the peeling, chopping, getting the oil hot, lowering in the chips, standing well back to avoid the spits of hot fat, shaking the basket, checking to see if one is cooked....It's still raw in the middle, finally lifting them out and placing on kitchen roll to soak up extra fat.

In the meantime, the oven chips have been baking nicely and are ready to come out.

I still have an old fashioned chip pan, complete with basket.
When I first married 60 years ago we would have proper chips, cooked in dripping, probably every 2 weeks ,mostly on Saturday night, they were suberb but after about 40 years I got fed up with the lingering smell so moved on to oven chips.
They are so awful I now only eat chips when out and then very rarely.

I too love gadgets and I use them all, apart from the George Foreman grill.
My favourite is my Magimix. I'm onto my third one. The other two "died" from overwork!?

Very rarely use any of these. Now lawnmowers own 3. strimmers 3 computer printers 6. That's DH, any prob with a printer, buy a new one. Mini digger, pressure washer, pot mover, hedge trimmer, 3 pairs of shears.
It goes on and on. Anything I think will make the job easier.

I love kitchen gadgets. I have a slow cooker, stand mixer, juicer, dehydrator, air fryer, spriralizer, nutriblend, all manner of fancy icing tools, knives, cutters, rinder, melon-baller... I draw the line at things like a rice-cooker, pie-maker, or ometlette maker as I can make those things perfectly well with oven or pan. But I rather fancy a pressure cooker.
My favourite is probably the slow cooker though, I use it loads.

Where do you keep all this stuff?

I am not gadget minded, but for about the last 50 years I have had a Kenwood Chet and the liquidizer attachment, which is used regularly for all kinds of things.

After that, just the usual microwave, toaster and slow cooker and and electric handwhisk, both the last two were inherited, but kept because they have proved useful. I do not have an electric kettle, but use a hob kettle on my gas stove.

I do not have gadgets because I am cack handed, I bought a fancy grater/slicer and the first thing I did was cut a finger badly on it. I have a reasonable sized kitchen, but a huge window and large meter cupboard means that I have little cupboard space and I HATE clutter.
