What did I do?!

I rarely bother to read cooking instructions, unless the item is to be cooked in the container, when I check whether lid has to be on or off and whether film needs to be pierced.

Our co-op used to hang a magnifying glass up over the freezers so people without their reading glasses could read the packages.

They seemed to have stopped doing so, but it was a really good idea.

I mostly ask from the expert person as that experience helps a lot while cooking.

My gripe is about those pre prepared chickens, on a foil dish, cook in the bag style. The cooking info is on the bottom of the pack, so you have to hold it above your head and screw your neck round to read them. Why don't they put the cooking info on the front of the blessed pack? Simples!

allule DH likes those pasties occasionally and I know what you mean, the instructions are ridiculously tiny; he asks me to read them out to him.
Perhaps we should email the company!

I thought I was the only one who had problems reading the print. Since there's so much emphasis on food safety these days, perhaps the food authorities who have lots of diktats on labelling, should also make sure it's possible to read, without strong light and strong glasses!

I ask DH since his cataract surgery he can see everything.

He even asked to have a look at my bottom front teeth, then asked why I didn’t get the slightly discoloured pinhead sized white filling replaced!

Yes coloured print on anything but white is a nightmare for us too.

I sometimes take a photo of the instructions on my phone and then enlarge it to be able to read it. I think you can adjust the contrast as well, but Ibagree with everyone - we shouldnt HAVE to do it. It's not only older people who have impaired vision.

I keep one of these in the kitchen. Very useful for tiny instructions.

Me, I don't often read the instructions, I am a chuck it in and hope for the best cook. Works for me.
