I have been given some damsons. Has anyone any recipes which are not too calorific please?

Damson jam is wonderful but full of sugar. Perhaps stewed with a bit of low cal sweetener, pick out the stones and mix into low fat yogourt? I have been given loads of plums. Might stew them and block freeze.

Maybe make a chutney? They are quite sour so would be good for that.

Damson whisky! So soothing to a sore throat or warming on a winter evening!

Damson gin!

Thank you for the ideas. I have adapted your idea loopyloo. I stewed the damsons with sweetener, which made a glorious red sauce when passed through a seive. I plan to make a sort of Eton Mess with meringues and yoghurt, plus a sprinkling of nuts on top.

Damson vodka! I love damsons wish I had some. Friend just got me 2 jars of jam but I don't eat jam! Makes good presents though

My mum's damson jam was a treat. I miss a lot of her home-made jams and chutney's with what we had growing in the garden. It was like a market garden with fruit and veg growing. It really spoiled me for wanting the best in everything now. Nothing tastes the same.

I always buy home made jam as presents at coffee mornings and fetes, so much nicer,

Oooo damson or sloe sherry. May well be an old ladies drink, although I haven't made it for years. Last time I made it, ostensibly for xmas presents, I drank it all myself.

Only rivalled by homemade pomegranate vodka. Equally gorgeous.

I like to make damson and apple crumble.

I wouldn't do anything with damsons except poach them gently in a little water until they're soft. Let them cool then chill and serve with a topping of plain Greek yogurt. No added sugar, sweeteners or honey, all of which disguise the lovely damson flavour.

I made Damson cheese a few years back. I am sorry but I do not have the recipe anymore. However I am sure you could Google it.
It was not too sweet, near solid and excellent with meat and cheese
