Anyone tried any of these boxes you get with meal ingredients. I am tempted to try one so can anyone else give me their experience of them ?

My son buys them. He’s tried most of them I think. His wife doesn’t cook. Seems quite happy with the results. I unpacked one for him once - can’t remember who it was, but I was impressed with the freshness of the vegetables etc. Lots of dear little containers of flavouring etc.

My daughter used them when she’d just had a baby and she and her Dh thought they were fab!

I tried them ages ago and thoroughly enjoyed them but for me they worked out as being expensive.

I was wondering about the price Charley.I had thought about trying them when we are looking after the grandchildren in September as will be four days a week and thought it might make life easier.Haven’t mentioned the idea to DH yet!

I've used Hello Fresh and Gousto before. The ingerdients were nice and fresh, the recipes pretty easy to make, but the portions were quite small (I think we're just greedy in our house grin).

Overall, I think they're handy now and again, as everything is measured out, but it works out dear.

Our daughter uses them. Some make you sign up for a specific amount of time whereas others offer one off deliveries. What she likes is that everything is provided and you don't have to rummage in the cupboards for ingredients. For example, spices are usually included in little bags.

DD and SiL use Hello Fresh and love it.
When their baby daughter arrived a few days early, we had to go to their house and intercept the box, unpack it and put it in the fridge.
Because one of the meals would been past its date by the time they came back from the hospital, we ate it and thought it was really good.
Not sure about the cost - but I think because there’s no waste (eg having to buy a whole tub of creme fraiche when you only need a tablespoonful) it probably isn’t much more expensive than getting the ingredients from the supermarket.

Susan it is years since I ordered but I remember ordering x 3 a week and spreading their delivery over two meals by adding more vegetables.

I remember thinking that once a week would have been fine but I bought the minimum number. The spices made it for me.

Shop around- there is more competition now so rules may have changed.

Thank you Charley.I would probably buy the minimum number too.Good tip to add extra veg to make it go further.
