please write the name and why you choose this, tell me the pros and cons)

MrsThreadgoode Tue 10-Nov-20 16:49:52

I have home deliveries but I don’t use any Apps.

BlueBelle Tue 10-Nov-20 16:58:51

Strange post with no intro, just a direction
Maybe a little more info why are you interested ?

Elegran Tue 10-Nov-20 17:13:01

Why do you want to know, Kseniya? Are you planning to use one? It is a bit rude just to demand that people "please write the name and why you choose this, tell me the pros and cons)" with no explanation. This is a chat site, for you to chat.

Or are you doing research for an article comparing which app is most popular with older shoppers? If so, I think you have to go through Gransnet HQ and pay £30 to put it in Media research requests/

I agree with BlueBelle and Elegran, perhaps if you said more about why you are asking, people might be inclined to respond.

Kseniya Tue 10-Nov-20 17:21:08

No problem. I need for myself, I returned from vacation and have to sit on the corantine, my husband works a lot, I would like to choose and order everything I need and get it myself.
I know the delivery from the cooperative and iceland, but maybe you know something better, so I am asking for advice.

phoenix Tue 10-Nov-20 17:21:33

As a friend of mine would say "how very rude"!

Kseniya, if this is your first post on GN, may I say it's not the best start!

Perhaps you might like to try again?

phoenix Tue 10-Nov-20 17:23:39

Ah, now it makes sense, sorry if I was abrupt.

I think you might start by seeing which ones will deliver to you, and if you can get a slot!

Riverwalk Tue 10-Nov-20 17:25:51

The OP has been around a while.

You could try Waitrose or Ocado but because of Lockdown they are so busy and I think they're not taking new clients.

BlueBelle Tue 10-Nov-20 17:28:35

That’s fine now you ve explained kesenya
I m guessing English isn’t your first language and you were trying to use as little words as possible, that’s understandable
Well all the big supermarkets do deliveries except I think Aldi and Lidl for myself I found Iceland were the only once that came up trumps for me as I just couldn’t get delivery slots with the others but I don’t think we are in such a bad situation this lockdown so Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s they are all about the same I think other posters will have other choices so I ll hand over to others now

chelseababy Tue 10-Nov-20 17:31:10

I'm using Amazon prime to get shopping from Morrisons. So far so good.

Elegran Tue 10-Nov-20 17:32:56

I use Tesco. They deliver to most places. If what you order is not in stock, they send the nearest replacement, unless you haver said that you don't want them to. You can add a note, like "large potatoes, not small ones"

Their online delivery website is at www.tesco.com/groceries. You have to register first.

V3ra Tue 10-Nov-20 17:39:04

Kseniya I use Tesco and order via the app on my phone. Obviously a system that is new to you will take a little time to get used to, but I find it fairly straightforward.

The main problem I think you might have is being able to book a home delivery slot in the first place as they're very busy!
They do offer a "click and collect" option, also on the app, if you have a store near you.
You'll be able to see if this is available in your area, though if you're in quarantine presumably your husband would have to collect.
You don't get out of the car, just park where they say and the shopping is put in the boot for you.

From what friends say you might be more successful getting a delivery slot using the Co-op or Iceland, or try Ocado.

We have regular deliveries from Sainsbury’s - no problems, very efficient in our area.

Also occasionally click and collect from Waitrose - excellent quality food, bit more expensive. Both sites easy to use for orders. Minimum £40 order. You can buy a delivery pass for 6 months / a year (about £60 / Sainsbury’s) - otherwise you pay an amount for each delivery

I sponsor a girl in Kenya who is incredibly direct, for her it is just her way of communicating! grin

Try using Google search to find Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, try to book a delivery and see if they will deliver to your area. If you can't find any slots with them, then Iceland probably would, but they have a more limited range. Good luck with your first delivery!

Yes, English is unfortunately not a native language and it's a little difficult for me. thank you!)

oh, I really didn't know. I thought amozon is only for technology and other things, but has nothing to do with food, thanks!

I tried today a selection of products on the Tesco website, I did not find there a product that I had previously bought in the usual big Tesco. what could it be connected with, online limited goods? Or is it because I chose the address and the site shows the goods of the nearest store only?

Elegran Fri 13-Nov-20 19:17:47

It may be because your order came from a different store than the one you usually use.

Hetty58 Fri 13-Nov-20 19:28:51

Try shoppingslot.co.uk to see what's available in your area. I can't answer your question as I use a variety of shops, depending on what/how much I need.

I use Waitrose Rapid (same day) if in a hurry, and Iceland, Sainsbury's and Asda have been reliable. Asda is the cheapest overall.

Locally, the taxi drivers will pick up and deliver a 'click and collect' for the normal price of a fare, too!

NotSpaghetti Sun 15-Nov-20 10:01:33

Hello,
I like Ocado best, not the cheapest but it has a great sorting system that none of the others have.
You can sort by "price per".

This means you can put, say, strawberries in price order irrespective of the pack sizes. It makes it easy to compare and so easier to decide.

I find it annoying on the other sites that you can sort by price but have to either do the maths to work out x per kg or some of them have actually worked it out - but just sort by overall price anyway.

Sometimes you can be surprised and find only marginal differences between "price per kg" when one is clearly a "better" product.

I hope this makes sense!

The best for just veg is Morrisons in my area. Better than Waitrose! In my area Tesco is poor, so is Asda. Sainsbury's is ok so long as you don't need to contact customer services for any reason. Their customer service is the worst in my opinion.

NotSpaghetti Sun 15-Nov-20 10:03:52

Oh, and I have lots of choice on Ocado, some good deals, nice staff delivering and not many substitutes.

Callistemon Sun 15-Nov-20 10:39:01

I think you may need to try them all, Kseniya and see which one has a slot available.

It was difficult at first but I think more slots have been opened up. Tesco was the most helpful in our area but it did take weeks and we were helped out by family and neighbours at first.
If needs be, your husband may have to do the shopping unless he is quarantining too? Some supermarkets are open 24 hours.

Callistemon Sun 15-Nov-20 10:41:22

Yes, some products are not available. I think it is the same with all stores.
