We have our main meal at 1pm and no problems with digestion. Then we each have something different for a light supper.
But I've found recently that whatever I have, I get indigestion later. Wakes me up in bed.
I used to have something tasty like an omelette or cheese on toast. Now even bread and jam causes bloating later.
any ideas? I thought maybe veg. soup?
I do have a gastric problem and take Lansoprazole.

Do you think it could be anything in your main meal that could be causing the indigestion?
I often think I've "got away" with eating something, but it always makes itself known.

Try drinking a cup of Ginger 'tea' never fails. Not Ginger tea bags, but fresh Ginger if you have it or the paste in a jar.

Having a soup-and-bread meal in the evening always gives me reflux when I lie down - it must be slurping about in my stomach. You might be better with something that doesn't include bread. I find I need very little if I have eaten a proper meal in the middle of the day. Muesli and Greek yoghurt is good, and it gives me my daily ration of yoghurt for gut health.

I too have reflux, but have my main meal in the evening, preferably three hours before I go to bed, then a dose of Gaviscon Advance before bed, GP advised.

I would go for the yoghurt option. Or semolina or cereal. It may be dairy that is giving you problems though. I would also have said soup, but that obviously doesn't work for you. After all, "supper" comes from "soup", via the French "souper" afaik.

You're right that eating in the evening, especially a late meal, is disruptive to sleep.

Thanks for the replies - sounds like a common problem with some of us. I'll avoid the soup idea.
The worst reflux etc that I have had was with one of my favourite recipes - red lentils baked with onions peppers courgettes and aubergines. For lunch. I thought I was going to burst!
Husband just has fresh fruit - ripe banana pear grapes etc. Might try that. And maybe rice.
Thankfully I still enjoy my food. Many older people give up eating.
