Local fish and chip shop here in Sussex is selling battered and deep fried cream eggs.

Any other seasonal specialities out there?

I live in Hull, there would be a mutiny if a “chippy” tried that!

Good old Hulls fish and chips brilliant after swimming lessons at Albert avenue baths.
Our local Easter speciality is boiling eggs until they are hard with colour and having competitions to see who can knock the top of each other's eggs in.... known locally as Egg dumping, why dumping I haven't a clue.smile Northwestern England border country.

In the NE it’s called egg jarping.
Believe it or not, but the World Championship Egg Jarping Competition has been held in Peterlee (co Durham) for 30 years.

So you have egg dumping too. They used to do it in all the pubs when we were young, the eggs were dyed with onion skins.

There’s a recipe for deep fried battered crème eggs on Nigella’s website. It looks horribly sickly.

Lixy, that sound horrible. I used to love cream eggs when I was young, but find them overly sweet now.
