Freezing cheesecake

I have made a large cheesecake (a Biscoff one as linked to by BlondieScot) and it is currently in the fridge to set. It was going to be for a family visit tomorrow, but there was a change of plan, and we went to them today instead. It is in a 23cm tin, and rather deep, so far too much for two of us, and we are staying in the lodge for the next week, so won't be getting visitors.

I would like to freeze some of it, but wonder what would be the best way to do it. I have an upright freezer here, and a reasonable selection of containers, but can't think of anything suitable for half a large cheesecake, and of course it would squash if I put it in small tubs. I wondered about freezing it uncovered, then wrapping it in clingfilm or foil when it was solid. Does anyone have a better idea, or do you think this would work? I may well cut it into two quarters, rather than freeze the leftover half on its own.

I recently froze a Biscoff cheesecake exactly how you suggest and it worked perfectly. I cut it into portion sizes, open froze then wrapped in clingfilm

Oh, that's good to know. Thanks, I will do the same.

And make sure you remove the clingfilm as soon as you take it out of the freezer …

Good point - thanks. We'll be eating it this evening, and I'll start the freezing process after dinner. I'll let you know how it goes.

Living alone I freeze things like cheesecake as soon as I buy it otherwise I would eat too much. I cut it into slices and wrap each slice in clingfilm. Once it has frozen I bag the slices.
