Last night I was listening to a Local Radio call in programme. The topic was ‘what do you add to your food or drink to give it that extra something’.

Examples
Worcestershire Sauce on cheese on toast.
A sprinkling of pepper on strawberries

My suggestion would be mint in cold water with ice on a hot summer’s day.

Over to you.

Mustard in with mashed potatoes
chopped chilled or garlic in most dinners

Buffybee Fri 21-Feb-20 18:08:22

When cooking the mince for cottage pie, add curry powder, just a hint and a tablespoon of mango chutney.
Gently fry thinly sliced leek in butter, stir into the mash potato before topping the mince.
Grated cheese on top before putting into the oven.

Curlywhirly Fri 21-Feb-20 18:12:52

Horseradish in mashed potato.
Balsamic vinegar and small teaspoon of sugar in ragu, which should always be half beef mince, half pork mince.
Marmite or english mustard on toast before you put the cheese on when making cheese on toast.
Frozen grapes in drinks (tonic, gin, vodka etc) it chills the drink without diluting it.

Mayonnaise ( from a jar) and black pepper on cheese on toast. I know, sounds horrible, but is somehow delicious.

Sorry about the 'Z'

BlueSapphire Sat 22-Feb-20 07:39:40

Definitely agree with Buffybee about adding curry powder to the mince in shepherd's pie. But then I add a chilli to everything!

NanKate Sat 22-Feb-20 07:51:40

What’s scouse please ?

supernannyjane Sat 22-Feb-20 07:55:03

I use Swiss Bouillon powder as recommended by Delia in many of my savoury dishes. Especially good in soups, pasta sauces and sprinkled onto roasted root veg before shoving in the oven. Low salt version also available.
