What are you all having to eat tonight? I cook every evening and have been getting bored with the usual meals. Tonight, I've made a Chicken Jambalaya - it's a Hello Fresh recipe I had ages ago, but I bought all the ingredients and have adapted it a bit.

I've made a carrot cake for afters.... with cream grin

Our main meal is at lunch time.

Today I made chicken korma, with a potato and pea curry. We also had nann bread which I bought.

I didn't make a dessert, we just had a cup of tea and a biscuit.

I made a Balti chicken from yesterday’s Roast chook. ?
with naan bread and mango chutney. I prefer roast chook, DH prefers curry. We’re like yin and yang.
We’re having fresh fruit set in jelly for afters.

It’s obviously chicken night! I cooked chicken and veg with a tin of soup in my slow cooker yesterday. Tonight when I got in from work I topped it with a cheese and bread crumb topping and baked it in the oven. We had green beans and mash. It was nice. I work three days a week now and have always tried to do meals in advance when I can. It does get tedious though and I wish I wasn’t always the Head Cook!

Those meals sound so tasty. In contrast I had a small burger, boiled potatoes with a little butter, and broccoli. And a square of chocolate. I'll have a pear later.

I had made a rather robust spaghetti puttanesca - served with a small non-alcoholic beer.

Lentil loaf, carrots and green beans. Followed by gooseberry ( from garden) crumble with cream

rubysong Mon 08-Jun-20 18:55:55

Prawn curry and rice with peas and red peppers in it, followed by fresh strawberries. DH and I both cook and this week it is my turn.

annep1 this is where I want a Like button!
Our meals are simple too.
Last night we had a fried egg with salad from the garden and steamed chard. Bread and butter. (it is seriously good bread, butter and eggs come to that)

Tonight He has made a parsley sauce and is deciding what to have with it. Veggie sausages or burgers perhaps. We would have potatoes but have run out.
Then we'll settle down to watch Grayson Perry....

We had a G&T in the garden but it has begun to get chilly.

Pastatisio, Greek thing, bit of a faff, and makes a fair bit of washing up, but can be prepped early, washed up then it's only the dish it's cooked in and the plates or bowls it's eaten in.

Mr Ps turn tomorrow ?

Riverwalk puttanesca (tarts spaghetti!) is popular in our house!

Great store cupboard standby, plus pretty quick to make.

grannyrebel7 Mon 08-Jun-20 19:11:17

What exactly is puttanesca?

watermeadow Mon 08-Jun-20 19:12:52

I made ratatouille and had it with pasta, pesto and grated cheese. Lots left for tomorrow.
An unripe peach afterwards, rather crunchy.

fevertree Mon 08-Jun-20 19:14:01

Arrabiata Chicken on penne made by the man of the house. White wine with ice blocks smile.

No afters ...

Nightcap later is warm milk and honey with nutmeg. (Induces sleep, so I'm already looking forward to a good nights sleep). ?

grandMattie Mon 08-Jun-20 19:14:04

Chicken here too. Roast with roast spuds, carrots, aubergine, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms all roasted and spinach from the garden. We like our veggies...

Early on in Lockdown Phoenix you mentioned it and I had an urge to have some too but had no spaghetti, only penne & orzo. The next day the shops were completely denuded of any type of pasta so I had to buy a packet of very expensive spaghetti from a local deli - think it was nearly £5 a packet!

I've now had it twice in the last couple of months - as you say it's a great standby meal using cupboard bits and bobs. That reminds me, need to buy some more capers.

My life revolves around eating!

Cod with lentil dahl and broccoli. One of our favourites. Cooked by husband.

Stir fry of leeks, celery, courgette and asparagus with plain boiled rice and very garlicky prawns, followed by homemade strawberry tarts.

Riverwalk Mon 08-Jun-20 19:27:30

There are various recipes Grannyrebel but this is what I usually follow

I've had mine---sirloin steak and onions, sliced left over Jersey's from yesterday and cabbage again. Tasty though. Left over syrup pud and custard, coffee and Jaffa-cakes grin Bless me belly.

phoenix Mon 08-Jun-20 20:00:30

No onion in mine Riverwalk and definitely no salt! Don't need that with anchovies in the mix!

The one I use is by Patricia Lousada, olive oil, butter, garlic, chopped anchovy fillets, rinsed capers, pitted black olives, can of chopped tomatoes. don't usually bother with the chopped parsley to garnish.

Gingster Mon 08-Jun-20 20:02:18

Trying to use up things in the freezer. Chicken Kiev , oven chips and baked beans. Yum.

merlotgran Mon 08-Jun-20 20:10:55

It was vegetable curry for us tonight. Bombay potatoes instead of rice because our earlies will be ready soon and I have two bags of small potatoes from the Sainsbury's to use up.

paddyanne Mon 08-Jun-20 20:19:39

I've had a gammon joint in the slow cooker all day, I always add a couple of spoonful of honey to the cooking liquid. I always cook gammon or bacon joint in this way now.
