There's a funny smell in the Dingly Dell

Not sure if the spray as a cat does....but they do scent mark from glands on their heads....or at least some deer do.

Don't think they spray as such, but they do leave scent markings from their head when they rub off bark and also have scent glands in their feet.

At least you've got out of the usual Sunday rut.

You got me curious - the only reference I can find is that they smell a bit like a cow barn. Sort of musky, mothballs smell. It's from their urine. Bucks give off the musky smell from their anal glands when they're rutting in the autumn.

There is some kind of fertilizer which farmers put on their fields at this time of the year. There has been a horrible smell here since last week, for miles around. It used to have Xs in the name - Triple X or Six X or something, but I have no idea what they use now. The pong usually settles after rain. I hope this happens for you.
