Beautiful!

In the spring, I was worried that I'd allowed my hydrangeas to become too parched in last year's long, dry summer. When I dead-headed them in March, they seemed very sad and were slow to form new flower buds - and the ones that did form were very small and scrawny.

I fed them some general fertiliser and hoped I hadn't actually killed them and fretted a bit because I really love them. I need not have worried. Two days ago, I returned from holiday to a fabulous display which I just had to share.smile

Oh Scribbles what a beautiful display and I love the colours.
My hydrangeas this year are glorious. One is deep rose pink and the other much paler.
I managed to prune them in spring and they have rewarded us with a magnificent show.
I have a photo but not sure how to put photos on here.

What a lovely surprise for your homecoming.
When we go on holiday the first thing I do is inspect the garden on our return and it's always amazing to see how much things have grown.
They do look very healthy!!?

I love hydrangeas especially a single specimen bloom on a vase. They are beautiful.

Lovely scribbles. I dry mine and display them in vases and bowls in various rooms. A lasting reminder of the garden all year round.

Beautiful, I also love Hydrangeas and take great pleasure in rescuing poorly ones at the garden centre, then bringing them back to glory.

Wow - I wish mine looked like that - they are decidedly weedy!

Nandalot Sat 20-Jul-19 20:51:13

Post some pics of your hydrangeas? Give us all some ideas.

Lemongrove, here’s some pictures of my Hydrangeas this year, they were rescue plants last year. I don’t know their names as they were without labels.

J52 Sun 21-Jul-19 08:47:03

And 3 more.

I love the idea of rescuing ailing ones at the garden centre, J52 and was seriously tempted to do that quite recently. The only thing that stopped me was that I've no more space unless I dig up another shrub to make way for it. Well done you and I hope they'll continue to thrive.

I shall look forward to seeing more photos of other GNs' hydrangeas as they come to full glory.

Just wanted to share a photo of my hydrangeas taken today too . Mine were poor last year, I wonder if they have “off years” ?
