This has popped up in the garden and is growing fast but I’ve never seen it before.
Pretty foliage but is it a weed? Thanks for looking

A poppy????

It looks a bit like Feverfew, the flowers are white daisies with A yellow centre.
I like it and leave it be, it’s a wild flower, some might call it a weed.

Hard to tell the scale from the photo. There is a weed that has similar leaves but it is relatively small.
I usually leave well alone until I know for sure it's a weed before pulling out. Amazing how many welcome plants just appear.
It's not feverfew nor a poppy in my humble opinion.
There apparently is an app you can get which identifies plants.

Try googling ragweed and see what you think. Use gloves to pull it out if it is and don't let any set seed as it is highly invasive.

Yes I think your right Esspee it does look more like ragweed. In that case definitely get rid of it.

It does look like Ragweed but I’m no expert I found that pic from google.

It looks like ragweed/ragwort it gets spread by birds and will have a yellow flower, get rid of it before it seeds. Poisonous to horses, cattle and sheep.

It's ragweed.

Pull it out now before it flowers.

I have to confess to not knowing how but I am told you can identify plants on your smart phone.
I assume you need to add an app.
Has anyone tried this?

It's a notifiable noxious weed in New Zealand. Smells revolting. Try tearing a leaf arosebyanyothername and let us know if we are right.

Could be a conifer, I’ve got 2 that have popped up between paving slabs. Goodness knows where from, as there’s no conifers around me.

There are apps to help, plantnet is one I have

Looks a bit like one in my daughter’s garden which has suddenly had purple flowers. No idea what it is though.

ragweed .its the seeds the birds drop. makes my skin itch. but if you like weeds/wild flowers leave it in. butterflies like ragweed...

Thanks for your replies, it’s about a handspan across and about 2ft tall and it’s grown very quickly.. I’ve never seen it in the garden before. Think I will dig it up and dispose of it just to be safe.
I’ve tried tearing a leaf and there’s no smell at all Esspee

One thing, it’s under a bird feeder.
I’ve used the no grow seed for quite a while and don’t usually get things seeding but who knows.

Thanks again for the advice?
