What is this pretty little plant?

A Cerastium - Silver Carpet, perhaps ?

It reminds me of a plant I had growing in my garden from 40 years ago! I knew it as snow in summer.

I've just Googled the image and it say's White Heath Aster.

I agree with Grandmafrench and gt66! Cerastium otherwise known as snow in summer!

Thank you, pleased about that, it was given to me by my dad who is sadly no longer with us and as my son was asking what it was called I thought I'd better find out!

Snow in summer; looks nice tumbling over a rockery wall.

I can't see the fine detail of the leaves but it resembles a plant in my front border called Cerasteum Tomentosum or such like aka 'Snow in Summer'.

I’ve always called it what I said further up thread after a friend told me that was it’s name.

I’ve now looked up Snow on a Mountain and it’s a completely different looking plant.

Can I hijack this thread, as your question seems to have been answered OP, to ask if anyone knows what these are? I found this pot tucked away at the end of the garden - I must have planted bulbs in it at some point, but can’t remember them / no label. Thanks

We used to call it White Rock as well.
Silvery leaves and pretty white flowers.

I was surprised to see three alliums growing in a garden bed which I don't remember planting, although I was happy to see them.

Oh, we’ve got that Lisagran, it’s most annoying as it always flops over just where the mower is going! I’ll ask DH.

The stuff Spottysocks is asking about is Snow in Summer (Cerastium Tormentosum)

It’s brilliant at holding back a steep bank as it doesn’t mind being dry, has a very strong root system and spreads. It doesn’t like our new garden though which doesn’t have the sandy, clay soil we had at the old place.

How odd spottysox - my dad gave me a cutting of snow in summer too, many years ago. It thrived in our garden and I loved it. When we moved to a flat with no garden I obviously left it behind. Now we have moved again and have a garden I have been thinking I must get some. It will always remind me of my father.

Snow in Summer is one of those 'bent on world domination' plants, I find, but absolutely amenable to being severely dealt with by yanking out its unwanted growth...

I will hijack here too as I have one which no-one can identify! I am quite well organised and keep all my labels etc but this one seems to have slipped the net!

Lisagran's look just like Freesias !
