Children of the Stones....absolutely freaked me out when I watched it in the seventies.

shysal Thu 19-Apr-12 09:09:46

Quatermass used to freak me out, but I loved it. I expect it would look very tame now.
My favourite watching when ITV came out was the Murraymints advert (too-good-to-hurry mints)
My family used to enjoy Dixon, Emergency Ward 10, Billy Cotton Band Show, Black and White minstrels (made me feel rather uncomfortable) and of course Watch with Mother and Muffin the Mule.

The first series I really loved the year I moved to London 'Rock Follies' and my first Musical, the original HAIR, followed by Jimy Hendrix, Leonard Cohen, the Who and the Stones, at the Isle of Wight.

baNANA Thu 19-Apr-12 19:32:47

I remember Pussy Cat Willum and a song that went something like
"ABCDE goodbye from Willum and me, FGHIJ we'll see you another day, KLMNO it's time for us to go, PQRSV and the cat went fiddle i dee", don't know what happened to the rest of the alphabet maybe it was savaged by Fred Barker! Also remember Thank your Lucky Stars and the singers of the day performing their song through a swirling mist on the studio floor, I was about six or seven and my Saturday night treat was watching it eating my dinner in front of the t.v. instead of sitting at the dining room table.

Why is it that I remember absolutely nothing about Prudence Kitten or Pussycat Willum? When were they on? confused

glammanana Thu 19-Apr-12 22:13:12

I remember Bill & Ben and little Weed from the flowerpot men but who lived at the bottom of the garden ? my mind has gone blank blushwas it the old farmer ?

nuttynorah Thu 19-Apr-12 22:59:47

Anagram Prudence Kitten was before my time too but Fred Barker, Ollie Beak & Pussycat Willum were on Five O'Clock Club with Wally Whyton & Muriel Young.
Glammanana I had to google Bill & Ben and the only human mentioned was
"The Man Who Worked in the Garden"

What about- It's Friday, It's 5 o'clock & it's CRACKERJACK!!!

Anagram Thu 19-Apr-12 23:13:39

Oh, yes! I did love Crackerjack! Leslie Phillips and Peter Haynes (?) - and all those cabbages...probably wouldn't be allowed these days (mistreatment of vegetables etc. hmm)
