The shed seems to be empty!

Think we have frightened them off!

nanny1 Tue 18-Oct-11 11:59:35

Oh dear - that's a pity sad

GoldenGran Tue 18-Oct-11 12:40:30

I have just come in as I haven't been here a while, what can we do to cheer it up a bit, and get the Grandads back?

GoldenGran Tue 18-Oct-11 12:42:31

Ohh! I have been away for two weeks and I have just seen the new smileys, they are great. cupcake -for the shed! grin

nanny1 Tue 18-Oct-11 12:52:26

Maybe we could make a special Halloween punch for them?

nanny1 Tue 18-Oct-11 12:52:43

Anyone have any recipes?

GoldenGran Tue 18-Oct-11 12:55:16

May be they are doing a bit of DIY before the winter set's in.

yogagran Tue 18-Oct-11 14:04:52

Helloooooo - anyone there...

Notsogrand Tue 18-Oct-11 15:29:23

I miss the Grandads too. Maybe we could have a special smiley for them? A spanner? I wonder what smiley ideas the Grandads would have?

yogagran Tue 18-Oct-11 16:31:59

A pint I should imagine

Notsogrand Tue 18-Oct-11 19:01:54

grin

jinglej Tue 18-Oct-11 19:11:11

It's something to do with them being from Mars.

nanny1 Tue 18-Oct-11 20:37:35

Maybe they have been abducted by aliens jinglej???

yogagran Tue 18-Oct-11 20:55:28

That's the problem with men - just when you need them they seem to vanish

jinglej Tue 18-Oct-11 21:11:57

It's men. They don't need to chat like women do.

glammanana Tue 18-Oct-11 23:31:57

They certainly don't chat like us girl's do,only when I want to watch something on TV does himself find his voice.hmm

I can only speak for myself as someone at the younger (54) end of the Grand-dad age spectrum, but it all got a bit twee and mumsy very quickly, as has most of Gransnet. I'm a regular reader and sometimes poster on Mumsnet, but I find a quick scan of active topics on here and I've had my fill.

Ariadne Wed 19-Oct-11 06:48:53

Are "twee"and "mumsy" derogatory words for "female"? Female is what we are, of course. I don't think witty and articulate discussions on, for example, philosophy, global warming and literature deserve these connotations, PoppaRob!

Sbagran Wed 19-Oct-11 07:38:21

Agree Ariadne I have been very active on GN trying to encourage everyone to sign the e-petition and save our coastguard stations - that's hardly 'twee' or 'mumsy' I think!

Perhaps PoppaRob you could show us what you are made of and rally the 'non-twee' and 'non-mumsy' troops to get the 100,000 signatures we desperately need as surely saving lives at sea is an urgent matter for us all - male or female. Sadly we are still desperately short of the target so PLEASE PoppaRob your help is needed!!!

There is a second and for some reason more supported petition so please can EVERYONE sign that as well. This could easily affect us all so here's the link!

GN is what we make it - there are many threads that I have no interest in but lots that are my thing so I pick and choose what to take part in and what to leave. Come on PoppaRob join our campaign - we need fighters like you !!!

pompa Wed 19-Oct-11 08:26:19

Hi All. Yes I guess us Granddads have been quiet lately. As PoppaRob says, many of the subjects are now female orientated so difficult for us to make contributions on.

pompa Wed 19-Oct-11 08:27:21

Ugrent --- Geraldine is on BBC news right now !!!!!!!

Libradi Wed 19-Oct-11 08:35:05

Oh missed it pompa, what was it all about?

pompa Wed 19-Oct-11 08:50:53

Older people downsizing as their children leave home.
