Just as I'd written and stuck down the last Christmas card....

....I got a Whatsapp from my DS in America announcing the birth of their baby - my 4th grandchild.

My cards and presents were all nicely organised and finished early because I'm off at the end of the week to California to help them out.

In many of the cards there were little notes telling people about the impending birth and my trip to America. I really feel I should add a PS, but, although I'm excited about it (of course), I have a lot to do and haven't got the time.

I don't know any details, but about 5.30 pm (our time) DiL sent a Whatsapp to say her waters had broken and they were on their way to hospital, then at 7.30 pm (2 hours later!!!) DS wrote and sent a picture of the little darling. Obviously a quick and uneventful delivery.

Isn't technology wonderful, that we could be told so quickly.

Lovely news - just scrawl something on the back of the envelopes.

I am just mind-boggled at the idea you have written your cards!!

Thanks Luckygirl. I'm not usually this organised but this year it was a case of having to. I don't get back till Christmas Eve, and it'll be too late to do anything then.

I have already posted half of the cards, so there are only a few left that I can scribble on. I'll probably do that, though.

Wonderful news! congratulations to all!

And yes, technology is great for communication! Which is why you don't need to worry about notifying the people you already mailed cards to b/c you'll be able to email them or message them in some other way once you're over there and settled in. I realize you'll be busy, but no worries, it's not your responsibility to inform everyone. You need to focus on helping out the new parents.

In fact, they might rather make the announcement to everybody, themselves, via FaceBook or whatever. So maybe you need to wait and find that out, anyhow.

Safe travels - and many joys w/ DS and family!
