Hello all.
Overcast in midlands but off to Manchester for day out. So suppose it will be raining lol

MawBroon Wed 20-Jun-18 07:45:02

Good morning stevierichard. It doesn’t alays rain in Manchester....just mostly! grin ? < ? ? behind sofa >

Forgive my intrusion, but you sound as if you might be lonely?
Had you ever thought of commenting on/joining existing threads on GN rather than just one you have started on your own?
Lots to choose from smile

MawBroon Wed 20-Jun-18 07:45:19

“Always”

stevierichards1954 Wed 20-Jun-18 07:57:19

At maw. At times I started threads but got condemned for using a good morning tag and messaged not to do so
I used different tag and had the same and joined in on others and had it pointed out I was now following protocol. Plus had disparaging remarks about my previous attempts at help from recognised orgs only to be told it was my fault.
I keep myself busy
Hope you are ok

MawBroon Wed 20-Jun-18 08:03:31

Stevier ignore disparaging remarks about other organisations!
The only way to “belong”, if you want to, is to plunge in!
I look forward to seeing your contributions on other threads!

Marydoll Wed 20-Jun-18 08:12:15

Stevie that's good advice from Maw.
Just dip your toe in other threads, you may be surprised at how others welcome you.

aggie Wed 20-Jun-18 08:28:14

Morning all , been a wet night from the look of the garden

mcem Wed 20-Jun-18 08:34:02

I'm finding it difficult to negotiate GN at the moment but I am wondering, Stevie, if you have posted on a thread which is already up and running and is not a Good Morning thread.
I was beginning to think that the only way you could join in was by starting a thread?
Try Maw's suggestion. Look at the Active list or check Last Hour to see if some topic catches your attention then jump in with a comment.
Just staying around, reading threads and seeing how things go will probably make you feel more comfortable.

BlueBelle Wed 20-Jun-18 08:35:10

Stevie I have not seen you have any negative remarks apart from asking you to please not open duplicate Good mornings thread every morning but still you continue
There is no point in having two or even three good morning threads why don’t you call it something else as I quite kindly ( not disparingly) suggested way back on the Monday thread

You weren’t condemned at all you were asked to try not to duplicate just join in with us why not comment on Michaels good morning thread instead of starting a new one ? it’s very puzzling
?

NanKate Wed 20-Jun-18 08:51:24

We are not enemies Stevie just grans/nans showing you the ropes, a bit like welcoming you to a club.

What do people go into cafes for apart from tea/ coffee and cake.
You have groups who meet up and talk about day today topics .
Mick

Oh but brewbrew and cupcakecupcake are very welcome!

Good Afternoon!
Melbourne has been lovely today. Started with a crisp 3C
then hit our "high" of 13C this arvo. Sunny, but unfortunately no rain. Same forecast for tomorrow (shortest day!) and Friday. Now time for dinner. smile
Cheers wine wine

A late good morning everyone.

Its miserable here on the NE coast. Dull, overcast and quite windy too. Where is all this sunshine everyone keeps talking about?

Just ignore any nasty or unkind posts Stevie and post what you like, where you like. Anyone is free to join in or not join in as they see fit. There is no hierarchy on Gransnet. smile

MawBroon Wed 20-Jun-18 11:43:39

There have been/are no unkind posts gilly! What are you talking about?

JustALaugh Wed 20-Jun-18 12:22:41

It's windy but sunny in Nottingham. I have got 3 lots of washing blowing on the line (I love to see that)

gillybob Wed 20-Jun-18 12:25:36

I was replying to Stevie, Maw ! I don't read every single post (do you?) so assumed (as I would with anyone else) that she was telling the truth and that there have been some unkind posts directed towards her.

MawBroon Wed 20-Jun-18 13:02:51

Am I allowed to comment?

Just thinking there have been helpful, kind, constructive suggestions both today and earlier. Not unkind or nasty.
Hope * Stevierichards* can see them that way

Rufus2 Wed 20-Jun-18 14:00:25

Good Evening;
It's now dark here and cold, 8C feels like 3C, would you believe! grin
Thought you might like another item from Sir Ken Dodd's repertoire, courtesy of the "Evergreen" mag.

"When we do an early show we get a lot of pensioners. It's like a scene from "Fifty Shades of Beige" " smile

I thought it funny, anyway!

BlueBelle Wed 20-Jun-18 15:45:47

Gillybob there haven’t been any unkind remarks just people trying to guide a new poster down the best route of posting
Yes I do read all posts in a thread I m going to comment on or else I may duplicate someone else thoughts
No one has been harsh or rude but surely you have to admit it’s confusing to have two or three threads all with the same title so much better if it’s in one thread

gillybob Wed 20-Jun-18 17:54:55

There have been good morning threads most days BlueBelle since I can remember. I don’t always post on them as I am often up to my eyes with children, work or whatever, so if you do read every post on every thread you are better woman than me. smile

I still completely fail to see why anyone can’t start any thread if they want to and I am sorry to disagree but I don’t think Stevie has had the best of welcomes to Gransnet at all. Maybe my idea of unkind is different to others confused

No one is forced to respond to any other post other than the one they want to so I still can’t see a problem. If anyone wants to only post on Michaels good morning thread then that’s fine too.

merlotgran Wed 20-Jun-18 18:15:27

I can't understand all the fuss either. Threads have often been duplicated in the past and more often as not the one with the least number of posts drops off the bottom of the Active list.

If you click on a thread the OP is at the top so anyone looking for Michael's can't possibly be confused. If you click on a thread and it's not the one you want, Go Look!

I don’t normally come into the Cafe, but it looks as though things aren’t going too well. There doesn’t seem to be a Thursday thread at all today, unless I’m mistaken. As it’s important that people looking for company and chat in the Cafe feel welcome, perhaps it would be better if GNHQ started the daily threads, so they felt more inclusive? Just a thought. I’ll butt out now. smile

MawBroon Thu 21-Jun-18 09:10:16

Yes there is Maggiemaybe just look at today’s “Active” threads.
