I want my New Year resolution to be get more active but
osteo arthritis in various places is driving me mad and I dread doing stuff which I know will cause pain. So I wondered if anyone has used a "Pain Gone Pen - PainGone Pain Relief Device"

(also available else where)

Are they anygood? I would love to hear your experiences.

What do you do or take to relieve your pain where ever it is?

Hope this thread will help others too.

A Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone x

Try MSM first.

It's been a godsend as I too have osteoarthritis

My daughter used Actipatch for chronic pain, its available online and at chemists .It worked very well for her for several months ,but her condition means most things only work short term .

For less money you can get a TENS machine which many arthritis sufferers recommend, myself included.

Many thanks
You have given me some alternatives..

cavewoman you use a tens Machine for arthritis? I used one several year go, the instructions said not place on a Bone. Things may well have change so may I ask if you use the tens on bones, such as knuckles or knee bones ?

I've used a tens and you place it above the knee not on the knee cap.

Millie8 - have you done a forum search? I am sure there was a post a few months ago, because I posted on it to say that I do use one of these and find it very good (no connection with them!).
It was recommended by my physio. I do think you have to get used to what works well for you and what doesn't. For me, it doesn't replace the 'background' pain relief i get from anti-inflammatories, but is a useful addition in some circumstances.

I got one many years ago, didn't do it for me - Turmeric however gave my horse a new lease of life for a while, and there was no placebo effect there!

Many thanks, I will investigate all suggestions, which I'm very grateful for.

annie the pain consultant suggested experimenting with a tens machine for knee pain. Not putting the pads directly onto the knee but above it on the thigh. I find it helps sometimes so may be worth you experimenting too. millie I’m another one who finds turmeric very helpful. I take it in tablet form although I believe it’s availabke as a ‘tea’. Hope something helps.

Seconded - I use MSM powder for all kinds of joint stiffness and soreness. It's cheap and makes a difference if you're consistent with it.
