Weird bug

For the last 10 days or more I have had a temperature - I can make it go down with paracetamol, so I am keeping that coming.

But no major symptoms - mild sore throat, no major cough (and I am prone to wheezy cough), 2 hours of runny nose in the middle of one night that just stopped - I feel like someone with a temp - tired, light-headed, slightly out of breath.

How weird!

I wondered if I have flu, but the jab has stopped it flourishing. It is very irksome as it is hard to just get on with life when you feel so jaded.

Anyone else had this?

My daughter (38y) Luckygirl was telling me exactly the same yesterday when I saw her! Said she felt wiped out.

Fennel Sun 10-Feb-19 13:04:34

That was the same as the flu I've just had.
Shivering then temperature shooting up like a kettle coming to the boil.

Try taking a daily anti-histamine. I start in February because that's when I often get sore throats, runny nose etc., even though I don't have a cold.

Ah - so I am not alone. How long does that go on I wonder?

Anti-histamine an interesting idea - but I wonder if it might make me even more dozy than I already am!

My daughter is complaining of the same Urmstongran and Lucky, she has had a permanent sore throat, worse in the mornings for about three weeks but had no cold or flu symptoms, no runny nose or cough.
And she feels shattered all the time.
I suggested sinus problems but she says it's not that.
I think it's some weird virus going round because she works with a lot of women and there's quite a few with the same thing.

I take Loratadine, luckygirl. It's non drowsy. Perfectly safe to drive.

I have just had four days feeling rotten. I have had no symptoms except a complete lack of energy and a slight headache. I have been sleeping 10 hours a night and napping during the day.

It seems to have gone now but I still find anything requiring too much effort tiring.

Fennel Sun 10-Feb-19 19:54:57

With me it lasted about 2 weeks, sleeping most of the time.
Then I was left with a sinus infection which was painful, but now cleared up b'h.So about 3 weeks in all.
But still more dozey than normal.

Temp still up - it is very persistent. But I am sort of carrying on with naps. I have OH to look after.

BlueBelle Sun 10-Feb-19 23:00:02

Buffybee if the sore throat is just in the morning like on waking it can be acid reflux

I have had all this before Christmas, still not sure if it was just a virus. I also suddenly stopped a daily drinking habit that was getting out of hand so perhaps it was cold turkey. But I felt unwell, under the weather, poor appetite, indigestion, but no cold or cough symptoms. It lasted a good 6 weeks plus.

This sounds very like the way I have felt for the last few weeks, don't think I have a temperature but certainly feel 'wiped out' most days and have perpetual rhinitis.

I have similar: tiredness, but also intermittent muscle aches all over. Any one else have the aches?

M0nica Wed 13-Feb-19 18:33:59

Yes, I also had intermittent muscle aches.

DH has it at the moment . Anything he has goes to his chest, so on top of everything else he is exhausting himself with constant hacking coughing.

Its this winter's bug I fear Luckygirl. Hope your'e soon feeling better. the older I get, the more convinced I become that rest, rest and more rest alongside increased fluids in the shape of lemon and honey is the way to go.

I'm sorry to hear so many of you have this but slightly relieved. I too have had a lurgy with not really any flu symptoms but oh boy do I want to sleep!
