Lump on leg suddenly appeared

Luckylegs Do you have a contact number/helpline for haematology that you can ring?
I think if you’re having chemo for a blood cancer they would want to know about your lump and the bruising.
I hope all’s well - FWIW, I don’t think bone cancer would appear suddenly like that.

I do but not on a Sunday, I don’t think. Thank you, I thought that too. It has suddenly appeared but then I haven’t looked at my leg for a few days............

You could phone 111.
They may be able to arrange for you to see a gp at the hospital or a surgery near you.

Indeed I would suggest phoning 111. Our worst fears about our health are often unfounded but its good to talk it over with a professional rather than Google. Hope it resolves quickly.

My chemo department has an emergency number to call 24/7. I would give them a call.

Thanks all of you. The trouble with ringing Oncology is that they will want to see my leg, won’t they and it’s stupid but I’m busy! I have rung the drop in centre triage and they’ve made an appointment for me this afternoon so hopefully I’ll soon know. I wanted really for someone to say they’d had that and it was nothing! We live in hope.

It is likely to be a haematoma ( collection of blood) from the trauma. It will slowly resolve but may take several weeks. It will have bled more because of the aspirin. It is very unlikely to be anything to worry about so try not to worry.

Right, I’m back! You’re quite right, mumofmadboys, it is a haematoma or very probably anyway. It honestly felt so hard this morning, just like bone but he could move it, even though it hurt like hell to do so but he was quite insistent I should go and have an X-ray at 9 am tomorrow! It was a nightmare journey of about 15 miles through the dark and rain on a Sunday and I could imagine how bad it would be tomorrow. I felt as though I was wasting everyone’s time as it was, never mind going back tomorrow! I felt quite reassured that it would resolve but if it doesn’t, I’ll go back on Friday for an X-ray.

I'm glad you're feeling more reassured about your leg. What a nasty thing to happen though. I do sympathise about the drive too. I'm sure you'll hear good news after the X Ray tomorrow
