I know there have been other threads on this subject but they are over a year old, so here is a new one. I really just wanted to offload my frustration so here I go.
Went to Sainsbury's this morning to buy a tube of canesten, a product I have used before but not for years. The only product on the shelves was a packet for £15 of 7 applications. I thought no way am I paying that so went to the pharmacy and asked for a tube, but the girl looked at me strangely then went off behind the screens only to come back and ask me how old I was. As I'm always truthful I told her 63 and she then told me I was too old to buy it. She explained her reasons and they do make sense but I pointed out that there was a product on the shelves next to the pharmacy where I COULD buy it. She just shrugged. So I had to pay £15 for something I barely have symptoms of, just want to be careful, because I am too old!! If I'm honest, the main reason I am upset is probably because she obviously thought I was 60 years plus to feel the need to ask me how old I was. So sad, that I obviously now look my age. Always thought I could get away with being mid to late 50's. So sad. sad
To think that London, or anywhere else for that matter, does not belong to any one demographic
