Last year I had a real allergic reaction to something.mDictor put me on steriods and when the course was finished on anti histamine. I was tested for Ashma but told it wasn't, was probably allergic to pollen. Since then if I stop the anti histamine for one day, I get such bad itching that I can't stand it. The doctor is is dismissive and said if I have a severe reaction again go straight to A and E. My eyes are permanently puffy.

DH has just had allergy tests, we had it done privately as our GP wasn’t interested, he is also on anti histamines, nasal sprays and inhalers.
Unfortunately he is allergic to dust mites, cats, rabbits (?) pollen and grasses, they were unable to say more about the pollens and grasses as the German company that supplies the test kit is refusing to send them to our Hospital due to Brexit ( so we were told by the nurse).
So he has to keep taking the pills etc. Basically. Oh and lots of dusting and hoovering.
Start pushingyour GP to get you an allergy test

Ask your GP for a referral to an allergy specialist. I developed allergies in my 40s and, like you, had to take steroids and anti-histamines. The allergy specialist tested me for a range of allergies and prescribed Fexofenadine (which I still take). I also have gungy cream that I apply liberally on my skin. My optician has recently diagnosed me with dry eyes and recommended drops. I've found these really helpful with the allergy symptoms too. It might be worth getting some. They're only £3 from the chemist and won't do any harm if you don't need them but may help.

Hi there, I take antihistamines daily and have done for 10+ years.
My prescription is for fexophenadine, I don’t have any side effects?.
I am sadly allergic to so much and really it’s not worth investigating, I just know that if I’m without the pills life is miserable.
It sounds as though the pills are working but some anti allergy eye drops may help.
I take a nasal spray as well as the pills.
Good luck.
