Taking a break

I thought I should let you all know that I'm taking a break from GN for a while in the interests of my own mental health.

All the negative emotions of grief and loneliness have combined with stress and anxiety over the wretched CV19 and I find I'm going around in circles, reading endless opinions and speculations and some facts and I am becoming incoherent and irrational much of the time. I have also turned off my radio for 23 out of 24 hours because that's just another source of stress-inducing white noise.

For some reason, these things are almost addictive but I know they're not doing me any good so I am going to get some counselling and try to have a few weeks of calm reflection signed out of all my social media haunts.

I need to grieve; I need to get my head straight and, I hope, when I've done that, I'll be back. So many of you have been so kind and supportive during the past few weeks and I'm truly grateful for your friendship. I know many of you have much worse problems than me and I can only wish you all well and hope for a virus-free future for us all, very soon.
xx

Take good care of yourself Scribbles x

So sorry * scribbles* I hope you come back soon. It can be overwhelming to read so many posts about the current situation, as you say, you have enough going on at the moment.

I hope you find some peace speaking one to one to somebody, the internet can’t always take the place of a person or a hug.

Best wishes to you

Callistemon Mon 16-Mar-20 17:09:59

Scribbles I know what a dreadful time you have had lately and it does seem to be all misery on here at the moment, which is the last thing you need right now.

I do hope you can find the help you need and that you have people around you who are kind and supportive.

We hope to see you back again to let us know how you are when you're ready, even if you just pop in occasionally.

Scribbles, just adding another virtual shoulder.
I know it is not actually any practical help, but as Callistemon says, I hope you can get the help you do need.
Stay safe, and we hope to see you when you are able to return.

I know it will be a long haul for you and it won't be a matter of feeling better soon.
But I hope the period of reflection combined with a supportive counsellor will help you on your journey.
Come back soon.

lemongrove Mon 16-Mar-20 18:52:23

Yes, we’ll be here when you return Scribbles and understand why you need the break.
It’s been a terrible time for you and you need some time out for sorting out emotions and reflection.?

ginny Mon 16-Mar-20 18:52:49

TKe care. ?

Scribbles
I think that's the wisest thing you can do at this time.
I was going to ask if you've thought about going to a retreat but in present circumstances that's probably not possible.
But when these troubling times are over you might want to look at this option.
I have 2 friends who are therapists and both go on retreats to get their minds back on track.
I wish you well ????

BlueBelle Mon 16-Mar-20 22:54:50

Thank you for telling us Scribbles and I hope you feel a lot clearer and calmer soon
I m with you all the way I can no longer listen to my much loved radio as it’s just a constant drip drip drip even on here there is far too much it should be confined to one thread
My news feed is just taken over with about 20 threads
I know it news but it’s not doing any of us any good in my opinion to keep going over and over it

Grandmafrench Mon 16-Mar-20 22:56:59

How sensible you are, Scribbles, to recognise that you need to care just for yourself now and take all the time you need to heal. We're all wishing hard for you to feel strong and well again. flowers

Curlywhirly Mon 16-Mar-20 22:58:36

Sorry you feel so low Scribbles, but it's absolutely normal. You are right, you need to grieve and you are very wise to seek support. Thinking of you. x flowers
