I have just received my Tesco delivery - lots of stuff missing, but plenty there to keep me going for a bit.

But..........I asked the driver not to come in and explained that I was in an at risk category. He then went on to tell me that he has an aortic valve replacement and heart failure - and then stood out there coughing!!!!

Oh dear God you couldn't make it up.

Tesco should be here in about an hour. I've put a note on the order that we're self-isolating due to health issues so please leave it in bags outside the door.

Have to wait and see what happens.

Just had a delivery from a courier. He told me he had to have a signature so I told him my initials and asked him to do it for me. He did!

Those machines don't show a true representation anyway.

I had my order from Tesco delivered lastnight, and loads was missing, only got 2 packs of meat so will need more shopping. We printed a poster and put it on the front door with 2 large bags for him to put the items in,but no he rang the doorbell and just stood there while OH struggled with filling the bags and puffing and blowing whilst doing the deed. Now the bags are free it should be easier next time round hopefully.

Oh the supermarkets - true heroes of our time - huge and increasing profits in return for offering a service so dismal and lacking ,

The delivery people are doing a great job. They are so busy. Dont knock them!

suziewoozie Sun 22-Mar-20 23:35:10

Do you mean home delivery? I’ll knock them because I can’t get a home delivery slot. And neither can many posting on GN - its an absolute shambles.

I had an ocado delivery yesterday booked it 6 weeks ago. I Only buy the bargains. Opened window and asked driver to leave bags on doorstep. Then I handed him a bar of dairy milk chocolate to say thanks for working so hard. I swear I’ve never seen a guy looked so terrified of a chocolate bar in my life. He took it when I told him I’d sprayed it with Dettol antibacterial spray and ran down the driveway to the safety of his Apple Van. Worlds bit weird isn’t it

When you check out of the online shop, it asks you for any instructions , tell them you are self isolating, they will pack the shopping into bags and they will leave it on your doorstep and sign it on your behalf, they will phone you to let you know they are on their way.
Assuming that there is anything left to deliver . Or that you can get a slot.

Can’t get a delivery slot either.

Suzie have you tried logging-on to a supermarket in the small hours when the sites are not so busy?

That's what I did yesterday to edit my forthcoming Ocado order.

The tesco delivery slots are released at midnight. We waited up the other night to try and get one and at midnight new slots appeared. As soon as we tried to book it said all the slots were taken. We did manage to get a click and collect in about 3 weeks. 15 seconds later all those were gone. I won't be bothering again.

suziewoozie Mon 23-Mar-20 07:51:23

River I logged on at 10 mins past midnight today- nothing for 3 weeks. I’ll try again now in case some have been released

suziewoozie Mon 23-Mar-20 08:00:52

Right - just logged on. You now have to be registered with them as a vulnerable person to get a slot . This is an improvement but I’m not registered. I rang the number given but it’s engaged - I’ll keep doing that now on and off.. No one will persuade me that the supermarkets have done anything but chase their profits during this crisis -apparently they had to abandon an NHS workers protected hour ( this morning?)

Annie26 Mon 23-Mar-20 08:00:53

Like others I have tried and tried to get a home delivery from Tesco but have managed to get a click and collect in 3 weeks time. They are just overwhelmed

suziewoozie Mon 23-Mar-20 08:02:35

If only they’d thought about this several weeks ago......

When this is all over... and it will be...then we need as a nation to call this out. Profits before people is never a good idea historically speaking. susiew I dont know your circumstances but can you get someone to shop for you if you are self isolating. Take care

suziewoozie Tue 24-Mar-20 11:06:48

Thanks May I’m well looked after but wanted a home delivery so as not to keep asking my lovely neighbours, who have enough to do with child care and job worries. I don’t mind asking for help at all but feel that in the nth richest country in the world that apparently does everything so much better than everyone else ever should be able to organise a home delivery system for vulnerable people (irony alert)

May7 Tue 24-Mar-20 11:11:03

sad yep agree entirely

FlexibleFriend Tue 24-Mar-20 12:02:01

I couldn't even log on to Ocado I was 9 thousand and odd in the queue. Funny they still manage to take the smart pass payment every month so the least they should do is let me log in. I guess they're too busy with all the new customers who have fallen in their lap with the current crisis. As usual loyalty counts for nothing.

My neighbour tell me yesterday about a local shop close by.......yes we stood over two metres apart!!!!! So we have paid a visit this morning! Fabulous fruit and veg at wholesale prices and far fresher that Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons. Guess who will not be patronising the big supermarkets much from now on?????

H1954 Tue 24-Mar-20 12:09:28

Told.... not tell! Got a bit overexcited with my lovely veggies!

My son is a delivery driver for Tesco. He says his round finishes very quickly at the moment as so many items are unavailable. The funny thing is that he has just ordered on line from Sainsbury as, being a delivery driver, he is down as an essential worker - even if it's for another company! It will be interesting to see how much of our order arrives. Hopefully it will cover a few more days.
