Good morning - I'm new to Gransnet. I noticed Alistair Appleton was nominated the other day as someone to 'lockdown' with. Well, you can - virtually, anyway. As part of his therapeutic work, he is a most gifted, compassionate and understanding teacher of 'embodied meditation', and we join his daily Zoom class of around 80 people, all over the world, some of whom have been on his retreats or courses. He puts in a huge amount of work and care for free. The focus is to calm the anxious mind by paying attention to how the body registers our emotions, and use breathing, self-massage and energy techniques to feel a deep relaxation. The daily practice is very effective, and there is the added benefit of his husband Daniel's yoga class, and a weekly shiatsu session - none of these assume previous experience, and there is a lot of explanation how and why something works. We are building a great community together and my OH and I have felt so much better for this. I told Alistair that he had featured on GN and he is very chuffed and keen to reach people on their own who might be feeling the strain of lockdown. So, I promised to bring this to the attention of Gransnetters - his website is www.mind-springs.org Do have a look !
