So, I pulled my pants down........

Now, steady, this is not that sort of post! Although it might be a tad TMI for delicate GN members (Don your pearls ready for clutching now)

The back story, in the shower the other day, I became aware of some change in my (ahem) derriere , in that there was something there that wasn't there before confused

At first I thought it might be a stray bit of toilet paper blush, but no.

It felt like it could be a skin tag, but of course I couldn't see it. So, had to ask Mr P to take a look.

Once he had recovered from his swoon and put on his glasses, he had a look. (He's so brave)

He said it looked a bit red (I knew I had that shower too hot) so declined dabbing some of that skin tag removal stuff on it.

Apparently it's still looking a bit "angry" so some germolene has been applied. Himself then wondered if perhaps it was a mole? (Never had one there before, and as far as I know, they don't appear overnight, unless they are the sort that wreak havoc with your lawn. There is a local pest control chap that deals with those, but I don't feel inclined to bare my buttocks to him.)

So, phoned the surgery, who are doing telephone consultations. (Wouldn't usually bother with something so minor, but realise that skin changes like this should be checks out)

Telephone consultation booked for sometime tomorrow.

But they want me to email a photo of it! shock

With the best will in the world and a selfie stick (which I don't own) there is no way I can photograph at that angle!

So, I pulled my pants down.........

gringrin phoenix hope its ok after all that. Any pics on FB ?

Sussexborn Thu 23-Apr-20 15:11:10

I’ve had to do that and had so many pictures taken but mainly at the hospital so a bit less personal than the local surgery.

Let’s hope they never go viral though at least no one would recognise you hopefully!

At least ask for the individual doctor’s email address rather than the one everyone in the surgery can see!

phoenix Thu 23-Apr-20 15:16:43

sodapop definitely not!

Sussexborn, no, has to go to the reception email address blush

Glorybee Thu 23-Apr-20 15:24:23

I hope you got your best angle to display the tag, made sure the background was neutral with sympathetic lighting to show it off at its best and aid diagnosis!

I had photographs of my boobs taken with cancer, after cancer surgery and after reconstruction. The middle stage wasn't pretty, or the stage when my nipple had black, necrotic scabs on it, after the recon surgery.

I don't care WHO sees them though, since my head isn't in any of them.

phoenix Thu 23-Apr-20 15:33:32

GagaJo puts my minor "annoyance" into perspective.sad

GagaJo Thu 23-Apr-20 15:38:52

Pfft, I'm WAY over it. It was a long time ago. But my photos will still be used as surgeon 'show and tell'. There was a time there when my chest had been looked at SO often and by so many people I could have shamelessly stripped off in the street.

A friend, who had terrible piles after the birth of one of her babies, (the ward sister would say to the doctor "Will you have a look at poor wee Mrs B, she has the most awful piles) swore that when approached by anyone in a white coat would just roll on her side. Thank God the decorators weren't on the ward at the time!

To disguise any embarrassment I'd have DH paint a face and make sure the affected area looked like your chin.grin

It’s fairly common practice now for skin problems to be photographed and kept within a patients medical notes. I had a nasty pressure sore on the tops of my legs last year, and had to have dressings done by the district Nurse, who photographed it every couple of days when she came to change the dressings!
She explained that the pictures would be viewed by the tissue viability nurse, who in turn could refer me to the Dermatologist if a more qualified opinion regards treatment was needed. More recently, my Daughter took a picture of the same area to show me how inflamed it looked after l told her that it was feeling rather sore again, just like Phoenix says, it’s a rather awkward area to be able to see it properly for yourself, and the camera is really the only way to go, in order to make a decision on what to do regards treatment of the offending area!

Is it on one of your lower 'cheeks' or next to the anus?
I developed a small haemorroid recently, a tiny lump.

BlueSky Thu 23-Apr-20 16:29:19

Well I think those of us who had children got over the natural embarrassment of showing our private parts to strangers! I still remember the shock, perhaps young women nowdays are not so shy. You are doing the right thing Phoenix.

kittylester Thu 23-Apr-20 16:44:59

Phoenix, I do love you!! grin

Luckygirl Thu 23-Apr-20 16:55:49

OK - deep breath!

- give camera to spouse
- remove knockers - sorry, knickers
- raise hands to sky
- sweep hands gracefully down to touch toes (this best dine before eating baked beans for sake of photographer)
- part buttocks with hands
- give instruction to point and shoot.
- gather up your clothing and your dignity and provide glass of gin to spouse.

Simple!

Luckygirl Thu 23-Apr-20 16:56:35

dine?! - done!

Artdecogran Thu 23-Apr-20 17:02:32

I had to give my poor husband an enema when he was suffering with terminal bowel cancer. We will do anything for love won’t we. ?

Luckygirl Thu 23-Apr-20 17:09:53

I became more closely associated with my late OH's arse than either he or I might have wished during his last illness. We just roll up our sleeves and get on with it.

GrannySomerset Thu 23-Apr-20 17:13:45

Yes we do, even though we hate it. Love conquers all!

kittylester Thu 23-Apr-20 17:21:07

Brilliant post Lucky!

I'd need the gin as well though!

phoenix Thu 23-Apr-20 17:26:09

kitty love you too!

To all, thank you for the posts! Especial thanks to those who shared regarding intimate moments with regard to those they have lost. flowers

The offending article is on the upper part, so no need to reach down and touch my toes for photography purposes grin

SirChenjin Thu 23-Apr-20 17:29:00

If I were you I’d get the long suffering Mr P paint a cheerful face complete with moustache on it (him/her?) before taking a photo. It will cheer up the medical staff no end in these challenging times and they’ll return the favour by moving you to the top of the queue. Win/win really.

phoenix Thu 23-Apr-20 17:51:05

Long suffering Mr P? Would that be the same "Long suffering Mr P" that heated some soup for his lunch, left the pan (unrinsed) on the hob, then trundled back upstairs to the home office, SirChenjin, or am I mistaking him for someone else that lived in this house?

Humph!

phoenix Thu 23-Apr-20 17:51:59

Lives! Not lived! Although.......

SirChenjin Thu 23-Apr-20 18:44:05

Ooh - not good, Mr P angry I take it back phoenix, you’re a saint to have put up with that. I’m not surprised you made him look at your bum plook, he deserved it.
