Has anyone been treated for this. I have been suffering with a sore ankle and lower leg pain for nearly weeks and treating it myself as thought it was plantar fascilitis. However a nurse friend advised me to contact doctor who gave the diagnosis of tendonitis and a prescription for Napoxene. Have been taking them for two days and got some relief after the first two doses. However this morning I developed slight balance problems and blocked ears. The leaflet describing side effects lists many and includes this. Will phone doctor tomorrow for advice but wondering if anybody has dealt with this?

I once had a painful swelling on an Achilles tendon and the consultant I saw referred me to a physiotherapist. One treatment with ultrasound was all it took.

jacq10 I’ve had Achilles tendonitis. GP referred me to hospital podiatrist. She supplied me with an Achilles’ tendon support. I’ve had great relief since I started wearing it in January. The tender swelling I’d had for 6 months subsided within weeks and I can now walk 5 miles without pain. There is a supportive heel wedge in it and 2 gel filled panels which mould around the tendon to support it while walking.

Thanks Grannynannywanny - I have telephone appt with doctor tomorrow so will speak to her about the physio she offered. I sent off myself for gel heel pads and have been wearing them. It's been really painful and I do like to walk as much as I can.

I’ve found the best way to relieve any foot problems is to wear insoles. These keep the arches well supported, and in doing so, helps to keep the Achilles’ tendon strong. Exercises that strengthen the calf muscle are also very helpful. A good physio should be able to help, even over Skype. Pain killers in my experience, just make me feel sick, and they don’t heal ( excuse the pun!) anything.

Hello I am sorry you are suffering I had this condition for years it was agony. Physio, exercises, insoles, acupuncture ultrasound nothing worked. I was making myself sick with pain killers. In the end Steroid injections 3 times a year which are very painful but give relief from the very next day saved me. Have had them for a couple of years. Also wearing Birkenstock rubber Gizeh toe post flip flops supports and cushions my foot perfectly. Could not be without them. Good luck. Best wishes Sylvia
