I’m on a lovely UK holiday which involves lots of walking and my hitherto comfortable, wide fitting walking shoes are really rubbing a bunion! I’ll need to investigate better footwear when I’m back but wonder if anyone has any recommendations and links?

The Sketchers range of Walk and Go Walk women’s footwear are comfortable for me to walk for a full day. (Sorry I don’t have a link).
Glad to take any shoes off though!
I am awaiting a bunionectomy; as you know Abracadabra the pain can be excruciating.

Oooh good luck Puzzler. I’m at the stage where if I wear my mesh trainers Im okay as they don’t place any pressure on my bunion, but they’re completely unsuited to long nature walks! Since making that Opening post, I’ve invested in a shoe stretcher with bunion part, plus bunion pads of various kinds as I want to prevent it worsening. I’m sure you’d have done all these things, Puzzler, so I’m interested in your own “journey “.

I am already cursed with wide feet so are the Sketchers Walk and Go already wide fitting?

I’ve got a bunion on one foot, and ended up at our local independent outdoor sports shop, where they let me try multiple styles on until I found the most comfortable - they are Brashers, and the bunion doesn’t bother me at all when I wear them.

Ooh thank you. I’ll look into those as well

I bought cushioned bunion protectors from Boots. The pain of a bunion can be quite excruciating, but these do a good job in preventing it. I'm a walker and can walk miles without any discomfort from bunions.

I buy Hotter shoes and they do xxx wide fittings but not with every pair of shoes.
