Embarrassing: Camping & Constipated

Sorry this is a bit embarrassing but we are currently on a camping holiday and I can't poo! We've been here since last Saturday afternoon and it just won't happen.

It's not helping having to use the site toilets - a 10 minute walk across a field and then six cubicles, lack of privacy and my bottom won't relax.

Then the more I worry that I'm not pooing the worse it gets. I've spent ages sitting in my cubicle waiting for everyone else to leave, which never happens!

Any tips on how I can finally go to the toilet?

Don't be embarrassed Rachb! First of all, a change of water & different food & routine can bung lots of folk up. Drink more water in this sweaty weather to help things along and try to relax.
Camp site toilets are often busy and a bit uncomfortable, clinical, and not a bit like home, which doesn't help either. Try taking a magazine with you & just sit. Women will be too busy with their own lives to even notice a cubicle with the door locked for any length of time. They'll be in & out in a flash so just r e l a x & it'll happen. You'll come to no harm if it doesn't happen. Some people go for days before they perform! Enjoy yr camping & try not to worry.

Prunes.

Pears are quite good too.

Get some Fybogel from chemist - should gently sort things. Take your mobile or other device that plays music/youtube clips etc for some background noise when you go to loo again. Hope things work out for you soon

The squatting position is best for facilitating "things".
It's good to rest your feet on something so that your knees are high.
Not sure how that would work in the campsite loos, though.

2 Mars Bars, that’ll sort you out and if it doesn’t, well..............who cares, you’ve had 2 medicinal Mars Bars so the calories don’t count.

Got the T shirt on this one! The only thing that ever works for me is sitting in the cubicle with a good book/magazine. If you feel embarrassed make sure you hide your reading material in a bag so no one will suspect. Because your mind will be engrossed in your reading material you'll relax and hopefully things will start to happen. Good luck.

Spent lock-down learning about acupressure- similar to acupuncture but using finger pressure instead of needles.

You can try your 'poop' button- centre of stomach, 3 finger widths down from belly button - press for 1 minute, then rub all round tummy clock-wise for 1 minute, and start cycle again. Very effective. And drink plenty.

Thanks everyone.

Magazines and other distractions is a great suggestion!

I need to 'go' now but I'm avoiding it because the toilets will be really busy.

I'm tempted to set an alarm for 5am tomorrow morning and hope the toilets are quiet and that the urge arrives at the right time!

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 20:28:19

It's like going on a long haul flight.
You just can't.

rachb2020 Thu 20-Aug-20 20:37:40

@Callistemon Exactly the problem for me too!

Okay - I'm going to try the site toilets again! Wish me luck - I may be gone some time...

Calli on the long haul to Australia I wait till we stopover in Singapore! grin

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 21:20:41

But not the squatting toilets in the airport where all the Europeans are saying "no, you can jump the queue" and no-one wants to grin

MissAdventure Thu 20-Aug-20 21:33:15

What happens in Singapore stays in Singapore. smile

gringrin

rachb2020 Thu 20-Aug-20 21:41:20

Now back from the toilets...

No luck sadly - the bottom remain firmly closed!

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 21:43:56

What happens in Singapore stays in Singapore.

Most definitely!

If you ‘need to go’, then you really should, don’t put it off thinking the loos will be busy, that’s how you get constipated.

DiscoGran Thu 20-Aug-20 22:16:46

Apples. Or strong coffee.
There seems to be a lot of toiletty threads at the moment. Is it the weather? ?

Grannynannywanny Thu 20-Aug-20 22:27:05

Are you far from civilisation? Maybe you could go a short drive and use a supermarket loo?

JackyB Fri 21-Aug-20 06:48:11

Or go to a restaurant and have a substantial meal and use their facilities?

BlueSky Fri 21-Aug-20 08:51:10

I've resorted to doing that while staying with friends. Silly really, wonder why we have 'social anxiety ' in loos. It seems to be women, I don't think men worry about it! Rachb I think it's time you took a gentle laxative to help things along.

sodapop Fri 21-Aug-20 08:53:07

I am exactly the same rachb I find it difficult if not impossible to go when I am away from home. Does make holidays tricky. It's psychological with me nothing physical. When I was going out with Mr Soda we went on holiday and the B&B only had a curtain between the bedroom and lavatory, I made him go out for a walk every time I thought I could go, it was March in France and very cold. smile

BlueSky Fri 21-Aug-20 08:59:40

Soda that puts me off having an affair! Can you imagine a dirty week end in Brighton and thinking about using the loo in the morning? grin

Juliet27 Fri 21-Aug-20 09:10:25

It’s wind on long haul flights that bothers me...everyone else’s as well as mine! I can’t ‘go’ for a few days after a flight normally. One year I ate something at Hong Kong airport that didn’t agree with me and had to visit the plane toilet three times before we reached Sydney and apologise to everyone each time I came out. ?. Wish I’d known what it was Rachb, I’d have recommended it!!
