Posture Correctors

Have you ever worn one of those back brace things that are supposed to correct a curved spine?
I broke a vertebra in my back last year and although it's healed and is controlled by painkillers, it's left me with a very elderly-looking stoop.
You must have seen the adverts, they're usually of a very slim young woman with a very unconvincing looking bent back in the 'before' picture, followed by the same young woman looking straight and upright wearing what looks like a harness in picture number two (amazingly it seems to have corrected her protruding tummy too!)
When I was attending the Physio department I was told I didn't need one as they were training me to use my own muscles - but of course I've had no physio treatment for the last 7 months. I'm still doing the exercises but its getting noticeably worse.
Any thoughts? (I am 81, so not much muscle power anyway).

Can’t advise, sorry, but have bumped this in the hope someone else can.

I don't have any personal experience but I'm sceptical that they'd work well on a long term basis. Surely they'd soften, become loose and less efficacious over time? In the same way that I'd imagine those bunion straighteners can't really help either. If they're not expensive though it might be worth a try.

I personally would not waste my money- to me it would be a body warmer. It is your own muscles which will help you- maybe do a few exercises each day?

If you were in your early teens it would be different because your spine and muscles would still be growing.

Save the money and buy yourself a treat!

Lol. Thanks Charleygirl as I say, I'm sceptical or I wouldn't have asked. With the lack of any guidance from the medical profession on trivial matters such as this, I am left with trying to devise (with google's help) exercises to strengthen the back muscles.
The problem is - they all make my back really ache - no they actually make it hurt - so I'm pretty sure they're not the right ones. All the online exercises seem devised towards making things more supple, not strong.
Good to have everyone's observations. I'd have asked my physio but those sessions have ceased.
