Does anyone have any experience of how to get sciatic nerve better. Have had problems over 4 months now and it is not improving. Going to physio and doing exercises. X-ray revealed nothing sinister with ny back.

Spent the lock-down learning a lot about acupresssure. Like acupuncture but with finger pressure instead of needles.

There are many very specific points for sciatica you can apply yourself, or get someone else to help you- a friend or a practictioner, or good acupuncturist.

DD2 came to join us in Tuscany recently and could hardly walk- after 3 sessions on her feet- she was much better- by the 3rd day, she was good to go. All around both heels- from achilles down and around the natural heel shape in a bow, and both sides, and the natural line below the foot, along heel line towards centre of foot- and breathe, deeply.

Depends what’s causing it. In my DH’s case only a shaving of the vertebrae touching the sciatic nerve will give hopefully permanent relief. He’s now on the waiting list but with the Covid backlog not sure when that will be.

If you are doing the exercises and you aren’t improving you will need an MRI to show what is wrong. Unless you know what the problem is it will be difficult to ‘get it better’.

I have had problems with sciatica for over thirty years...was getting to the point where i was inhaling pain killers...then i met a chiropractor.. game changer.. i am now 63 and have no pain...it cost a small vacation and i had to put in a lot of gym work and exercising but it was worth it!
