Hi I don’t post very often but I read the posts. I wonder if anyone has any experience of cutting down/ out omaprazole. What did you do and do you still get symptoms?
I’ve been on 20 mg daily omaprazole for two years for a hiatus hernia and reflux etc. I’ve recently been getting pain and numbness in my big toe. I’ve been Googling(!) and found there’s a link between taking omaprazole and numbness and tingling in your toes, as well as leg cramps, connected to a deficit of vitamin B12. There’s other side effects from omeprazole that I know about that worry me too.
During lockdown I’ve been getting repeat prescriptions from my gp for omaprazole and taking it although I know it’s not advisable to keep taking it long term. I was due a medication review last year but that seems to have been cancelled by my gp due to Covid restrictions so I’ve just let it go
I know I should lose some weight as well to reduce the symptoms of GORD and the hernia, and lockdown hasn’t helped as I’ve put about a stone on in weight and I’ve not been able to keep to a diet
I’m going to try cutting down on omaprazole and trying to cut down on my eating too as I think that will help with my GORD symptoms. If anyone can advise me If you’ve cut out omaprazole, what did you do? How did you get on? Thank you
