Do any of you find Turmeric good for arthritic conditions?

Do you buy the tablets or the tea ?

Turmeric helps me to manage painful joints. I use the tablets, experiment now and again by stopping them and always notice a difference. Mine come from an on line company recommended by a nutritionist as reputable. Managing arthritis pain isn’t easy, hope you get some relief nankate.

I make turmeric latte, which is delicious.

You need a cup of milk, 0.5 to a full teaspoon of turmeric or turmeric latte spices, and a teaspoon or so of honey. You can add in some white chocolate mini buttons too if you want a really decadent drink ?

Put the milk into a Velvetiser if you have one, or a saucepan. Set the Velvetiser going, or start to heat the milk. Add in the turmeric/latte spices and whisk if it is in a pan - the Velvetiser will do its thing if it's in there. When the milk is warm, add the chocolate if using (do this a few at a time in the Velvetiser, so they don't clog the whisk), and when it is ready sweeten to taste with honey. I prefer to strain it through a tea strainer, as the spices don't dissolve, but that is a matter of taste.

I don't know if it helps with arthritis, as I haven't thought to make the connection (I have osteoarthritis in my knees), but I will try to notice if it makes a difference when I drink it. It is a really warming drink, though, whether for medicinal purposes or not.

It can also interact with many standard drugs so be careful.

I tried turmeric in tablet form after reading about it here on Gransnet but it didn't make any difference.

I tried turmeric for my osteoarthritis but it had no effect sadly. However I know of a lady who took it and avoided having to have an op because it helped her so much.

I eat rice several times a week and always add Turmeric (called Curcuma here in France) to give it colour and flavour. Any health benefit is a bonus. I am lucky not to be aware of any arthritic tendencies at 72, I know.

I have read and heard that turmeric for osteoarthritis needs to have black pepper with it to activate its effect.
I buy capsules from Holland and Barrett. There are probably other suppliers who add black pepper too. If I stop taking it, my knees tell me.
I have one knee replaced, but as I get older, I don't want the other one done if I can help it!
I can't say it helps terribly with painful hands, but it certainly seems to help me with bigger joints.
I take 2 capsules per day. Morning & evening. It's worth a try & might take a while to get into your system so don't give up too early.

It can help in some cases, normally takes about 4 weeks to see a difference.

It is also helps dogs and cats that suffer from arthritis and isn't expensive. My border collie takes it and its helped him too.

I've just started taking the capsules and am really hoping it helps with my hands, knee and hip. Like Nonogran I got them from Holland and Barrett in the penny sale.

Thanks doodledog. I might give that a try.

Let me know if you like it? The blend I use is from Dhow Nature Foods. You get a lot of drinks out of a pack, as you only need a teaspoon, whatever it says on the instructions. You can use plain turmeric instead, though.
