My husband has had type 2 diabetes for years and has trouble finding socks with a soft enough top so as not to leave a nasty ring round his legs at the end of the day.
I did buy some rather expensive diabetic socks online, and they do have lovely stretchy soft tops (is the word 'welt') but the rest of the sock is soft and stretchy too, so they don't last 5 minutes before ripping and tearing. They don't last long enough to wear into holes.
The other problem is that he takes size 12 shoes and most socks are grouped into size 9-11 so he's at the limit of their flexibility. By the end of the day the rings round his ankles look quite painful and I'm sure its not good to be inhibiting the blood supply to his feet either.
Any thoughts? Recommendations?
