Tai Chi on YouTube?

I did a short course in Tai Chi many years ago. I wanted to start again to help with general mobility and wellbeing but obviously this is not possible at the moment. Can anyone recommend YouTube classes or anything online? When I looked it up there were so many different styles of TC that I gave up. Before Lockdown I swam 30 lengths, three times a week and although I am overweight, I feel fairly healthy and had no health issues when I had the Virus in March. I do have a very stiff lower back at the moment which is painful especially in the morning or if I have been sat in the same position. I set a timer now to move every 20 mins. If anyone has any suggestions about the TC, I would be really grateful. Thanks

Try Don Fiore. He has a selection of easy to follow classes on YouTube.

Hello Rosiebee I have been doing Taoist Tai Chi for about 3 years and it definitely helps with mobility and balance. Take a look at their website www.taoisttaichi.org they have a video of the founder Master Moy showing the moves. Also if you google Taoist Tai Chi on YouTube there is a Canadian Guy called Kevin who demonstrates the foundation exercises and the moves step by step. There are 108 moves but don't let this put you off as they are often repetitive. I hope this helps and good luck.

Try looking up Angus Clark who teaches in Devon. He teaches yang style, is a very good, long experienced teacher. He makes most of his teaching freely available and he's doing online classes now for a pittance. He's a lovely guy in the best of tai chi tradition. www.livingmovement.com/#

Before my knees got too bad I used to do the easy western 24 step form and loved it. Now, with new knees, I'd like to do it again too. 108 moves sounds rather too much for my little brain!

I started Tai Chibquite recently but we had to give up the classes because of lockdown. Our teacher is basically using Dr Paul Lam’s programme. We do a Zoom class once a week & I use Dr Lam’s free videos to practise in between classes.

I was also doing a class before lockdown which then went to Zoom. I’ve also looked at various YouTube videos and I like Jake Mace, although it’s difficult to find a video long enough to cover the whole form. Jake does Yang style, Chen style, 24 step and various Qi Kung videos.
I’m now going to look at some if the suggestions here, thank you ladies.

This is the Tai Chi video I use. It’s a gentle version, easy to copy. I’ve been doing it for a few years and have adapted some of these moves into an easy to remember sequence. I try to do it in the garden whenever the weather allows, I’m sure it’s made my joints more flexible. It’s supposed to improve your balance too, but I’m not sure I’ve achieved that.
It’s calming and soothing too, especially when I can do it outside.

mostlyharmless I’ve just started using these ones, mainly because they were the first ones that came up on You Tube!

I like her way of explaining the moves, and how she says not to worry about doing the moves exactly.
