Can anyone recommend a fitness tracker that is easy to set up and easy to read on the wrist pleasr

Hetty58 Mon 20-Sep-21 14:59:06

Do you really need one? If so, what for?

(I have a very unfit friend who wears one, along with all the fitness gear, and just looks very silly).

We use the fitbit

Forgot to say that while it is not a medical device, it is very useful to track medical stats

Fitbit for me too, it helps me reach my 10.000 steps.

Fitbit here too . Very easy to set up.

Fitbit has been the mainstay of my rehab after hip replacement. It was easy to set up online and really helps me keep on track and motivated to keep moving. I set target steps, continuous movement minutes, reminders to move each hour and also a sleep monitor. It was a Christmas present from DD.

I wear one - ALWAYS do 20k steps a day (Rick Bhullar walking) on youtube - can't recommend enough. I got mine on ebay for about 12 quid HryFine. Keeps charged for 3 days, so simple to sync with iphone (even for me and I am a technophobe)

Before this I had an apple watch that lasted a year and cost over 100 quid - never again.

It really does motivate me to keep moving

Ooh 20,000 steps! Well done. I dream of that. I'm so sick of all our local walks after the long lockdown that I just stomp round them listening to podcasts. Not enjoyable excercise at all but it must be done.

I too wear a fitbit, a birthday present from DH in June.

Aveline - look up Rick on youtube - do a few 2k step workouts and your walking habits will be revolutionised, trust me

Dottygran
I’m impressed

My Daughter bought me a Fitbit for Christmas, I call it my UNfitbit. Easy to set up, but just lies constantly!

I gave a Samsung Galaxy and would recommend it.

I use a Garmin watch, mainly for running, but it records steps, heartbeat, sleep and other exercise as well. It keeps me aware of how much exercise I'm doing and need to do each week. It has helped me a lot in increasing my levels of exercise gradually. You can add in weight and calories too - I think you can have it draw down from things like MyFitnessPal. I'm very pleased with it, though it is the only device of this kind I've every had.

I do like my Fitbit for step counting and sleep monitoring. It's my conscience!

Amazfit Band 5. It links to the (free) Zepp app on your phone or tablet and dies pretty much the same as a Fitbit. I paid £19 for mine a few months ago whilst it was on offer at Argos and I am really pleased with it.

Most smartphones have a health App that tracks your health and how many steps you take, it tells the time too and loads of other things
On an iPhone it’s a heart symbol❤️

Aveline Mon 20-Sep-21 21:19:14

Dottygran59. I checked his YouTube stuff. Looked VG but I struggle to see what he's doing as I've only got a small tablet and I was coming and going with my reading glasses so really couldn't keep up! Old agesad

Thank you for your recommendations . I can use my phone to track steps which I do for a walk , but I want to track daily steps and it’s not practical to keep my phone on my person all day ( needs charging too) so Imust go to PC world and choose a fit bit it seems!!

Don’t worry Hetty58- I’m not into Lycra . Wouldn’t want to scare the moorland ponies!
