I look at my accounts every single day and today spotted an unauthorised transaction, just over £50. I wish I had made a list of everything I have bought but I didn`t. Researched the website, which was not one I used and appeared to be based in hong king

I had to bite the bullet and reported it and now have a cancelled credit card but better that than more money being removed. Just be aware, christmas when banks are shut, obviously a good time for scammers.

Thank you for sharing, and sorry to hear this.
It is partly for this reason that I do make a note of all my transactions (I have a programme that also helps me analyse spending, even if some 'cosmetics' creep over to 'housekeeping'!)
I also run 2 cards - in theory one for housekeeping and one for major purchases, but it has been useful when this has happened to us.
I hope it is resolved quickly for you, and as you have been refunded, it is a nuisance rather than a loss of money.

Thank you craftyone, it’s a timely reminder.
These thieves and criminals are so quick and devious.

My partner dropped his credit card, when he was paying at a parking meter. He noticed about an hour later. In that time his card had been used in four different supermarkets for expenditure of just under £30 each time. So smallish amounts, unlikely to cause concern, initially.

I can’t believe that people can find a credit card and use it in such a devious way, so quickly...
We all need to be super vigilant.

Norsat Unfortunatley the purchases under £30 .00 will be put through without any concern from the seller as that is the limit for contactless payments and ID is not requested,so a few hundred £s can be spent very quickly indeed.

I have two current accounts. One is kept deliberately low in funds and there is never more than £500 in it at any given time. This is the one I use for online purchases and day-to-day expenditure, shopping, petrol etc. So if there is any scam, fraud, lost card, etc the thieves will get very little.

I have heard of bank accounts being cleared out to the tunes of tens of thousands.

There is a limit to the times your card can be used for contactless purchases, I Can’t remember what is is , 4 I think.
We should be constantly aware of scammers in every way, phone calls, emails etc, they are getting extremely sophisticated.
It must pay because they are proliferating.

I had a phone call the other day from the VISA fraud department, a recorded voice. They said that £600 had been drawn from my bank account, and to press 3 to find out more. I didn`t need to, all I had to do was access my online bank account, finding no trace of a £600 transaction.
