Now I've retired I'm enjoying much more golf and feel fitter than ever. Hubby & I have also picked up Residents cards at Bolton One for free swimming & discounted gym prices, but its been so cold that the idea of removing any clothes hasn't tempted us so far.
What do you enjoy to keep fit in retirement? Any fellow golfers out there?

I've always been very keen on yoga, and try to do some, even if only 10 minutes, every day.
My belief is that if you can stay supple you can't go far wrong.
I'm also interested in free-flow (ie not choreographed) dancercise.
I'm thinking of training to teach Chakradance!
Dance releases endorphins and feeling good keeps you feeling young smile

Just walking is good exercise. It can be combined with other interests - birds, golf, retail therapy . . .

Until about a year ago I used to go to a weekly aerobics class and did some regular jogging and the occasional race eg The Great North Run.
Nowadays I enjoy Zumba Gold, which is a version of Zumba designed for beginners or older participants. I love the Latin dance music.
I thought that I would spend more time exercising after I retired from full-time employment but, because I'm not so disciplined about keeping to a regular schedule in retirement, I've found that I'm exercising less rather than more now.

I've just seen this article in the Guardian about walking being even more beneficial than running for heart health. That's making me feel better about not getting out jogging since I injured my knee late last year. Walking seems more inviting now that the evenings are getting lighter. What activities would you recommend for keeping fit?

Yoga has been great for me and you can even do it to help your injured knee and support your walking :-)

Spot on Cate21! Yoga has got me through several injuries, and I am certain my back would be a problem where it not for yoga.
I don't have a single ache or creak and I know that's down to yoga smile

Hasn't it been great just to walk in the sunshine this weekend? Feel so much fitter already.
